Visit the ruins of Baldan Bereeven Monastery, a beautiful reminder of Mongolia’s Buddhist past. You’ll also see the Öglögchiin Wall, also called the Almsgivers’ Wall, stretching across the hills. This remote area is thought to be the final resting place of Genghis Khan. For your stay, you can choose a traditional ger camp with a nomadic family lunch or opt for the upscale Terelj Resort with a spa. Either way, you’ll be surrounded by incredible nature and deep history.

DAY 11

Ulaanbaatar

Explore more of the Khan Khentii wilderness today. Hike through dense forest paths and along the Öglögchiin Wall, which runs for nearly two miles. ESSENTIAL INFORMATION

YOUR TRIP DESIGN, PACE & FLEXIBILITY: This itinerary is privately operated and shaped around your preferred dates, pace and comfort level, designed for clients who want Mongolia beyond the headline routes—wide skies, nomadic culture, and a sense of true space in the eastern steppe. The key early choice is rhythm: whether you prefer a deeper, slower immersion with fewer moves and more time with local hosts, or a broader traverse that samples a wider range of landscapes and communities. Because eastern Mongolia is remote and lightly serviced, we design with intelligent buffers and flexible day structures so the journey remains elegant even when conditions shift.

ROUTING OPTIONS WORTH CONSIDERING: Eastern Mongolia lends itself to meaningful tailoring. Options include: adding additional nights in one exceptional area to reduce time on the move; strengthening the cultural thread with more time in herder communities (horse culture, daily life, traditional skills) delivered through trusted relationships; or weighting the programme more nature-led—birdlife, wetlands, and open steppe horizons—depending on season. If you would like a clearer “arc”, we can design the route to build towards a standout wilderness chapter, then finish with a refined recovery stay in Ulaanbaatar. We can also calibrate the level of remoteness to match your comfort threshold.

LOCAL EXPERTISE, VIP SERVICE & ON-THE-GROUND SUPPORT: Travel is arranged with a dedicated driver and private vehicle specified for the terrain, supported by local experts who understand the east’s distances, conditions, and cultural etiquette. The service style is discreet and proactive: daily timing is managed to avoid unnecessary fatigue, camp set-ups are coordinated quietly, and any on-the-day refinements are handled without fuss. Where it enhances the experience, we can introduce specialist hosts—wildlife spotters, cultural interpreters, or horse specialists—so encounters feel genuine and intelligently contextualised, rather than staged.

LUXURY-STYLE CAMPS & COMFORT IN THE STEPPE: Accommodation is curated to a premium brief, combining the best-available city hotel in Ulaanbaatar with high-quality ger camps and luxury-style camps in the east. In a region where infrastructure is limited, comfort is delivered through thoughtful camp selection, privacy where possible, strong bedding and heat management, and a well-run dining set-up. If you would like a more elevated specification—larger gers, enhanced private facilities, or a more exclusive camp footprint—we can shape the plan accordingly, subject to what is feasible in each location.

DRIVING DAYS, HORSE ELEMENTS & ACTIVITY LEVEL: Eastern Mongolia is defined by distance, so the quality of the experience depends on how driving days are designed. We manage this with sensible staging, comfort breaks, and routes that prioritise scenery and smoothness over “shortest line on a map”. Activity levels can be kept gentle—steppe walks, short hikes, lakeside time—or increased with riding and more active days if you wish. For clients who want horse culture without long saddle hours, we can curate shorter, more comfortable riding segments supported by experienced handlers.

COSTING, PAYMENTS, UPGRADES & TERMS: Pricing is built from live availability—vehicles, drivers, camp inventory, specialist hosts, and the comfort specification you choose—so final costs depend on season, group size and confirmation timing. Your proposal will set out inclusions and assumptions clearly, with enhancements presented as options (camp upgrades, additional nights, specialist hosts, private cultural access, buffer days, upgraded vehicles). Deposits secure key logistics, with balance dates aligned to supplier deadlines. If you wish to refine the programme after confirmation, we will outline any practical and commercial implications in advance before actioning changes.
