Armenian Panorama: Explore the Soul of Armenia
June 01 - 1, June 01, 2025
Silolona is a gorgeous twin-masted, traditional Phinisi sailing vessel, operating in the Indonesian Archipelago as well as in Thailand’s Mu Koh Similan National Park and Myanmar’s Mergui Archipelago. Owned by Patti Seery, an American anthropologist who spent 25 years exploring Indonesia, often leading Explorer’s Club on ill-equipped converted cargo boats before she decided to build her own. Seery’s Silolona is one of the first to offer this kind of well-considered service here.
Housed within this magnificent 50-metre vessel, Silolona has just 5 cabins, including three with king-size beds and lounge areas and two with double beds. Inside, Seery’s lifelong fascination with traditional Asian woven textiles and artefacts is evident, as much as her insistence on travelling in ultimate comfort and style. All rooms classically decorated and enjoy the warmth of solid wood, creating a relaxed ambience in an air-conditioned environment with ensuite bathrooms.
Guests have a choice to create their own itinerary on Silolona, you can cruise the East Indonesian Islands in search of the Komodo Dragon or explore remote diving sites. The boat is fully equipped with equipment for snorkelling, fishing and diving or you can explore the area of your choice at your own pace. Silolona sails in Indonesia from April to November every year, before going up to the West Coast of Malaysia, Thailand and up to Myanmar from December to March.

When to go Straddling the equator, Indonesia tends to have a fairly even climate year-round. Rather than four seasons, Indonesia has two – wet and dry – and there are no extremes of temperature between winter and summer. In most parts of Indonesia, the wet season falls between October and April and the dry season between May and September. December and January see Indonesia at its most humid and rain tends to come in sudden tropical downpours, but it can also rain for more prolonged periods.
