The Oberoi Lombok is a luxury beach hotel, set on the secluded northwest coast of Lombok. The unique design displays a luxury private villa concept, conceived by Peter Muller, the Australian architect in the early 1970s. A decade after his early retirement, Muller was lured out to design The Oberoi, Lombok, and it is his masterpiece. Situated on the tranquil Medana Beach with spectacular views over to the Gili Islands, it is a quiet, and peaceful romantic retreat.
The Oberoi Lombok has a village-like cluster of 20 luxurious villas and 30 spacious terrace pavilions, with private gardens set within walled courtyards. Each is beautifully decorated in traditional style with dark woods, local fabrics and thatched roofs. The resorts dining venues including its café and bar, all provide great views of the ocean while Lumbung, the hotel’s award-winning restaurant serves international and traditional cuisines. Don’t miss the sunset from Tokek Bar.
The Beach Club at the Oberoi Lombok is equipped for a host of non-motorised water sports including PADI diving. Alternatively, guests can take a popular half-day trip to the Gili Islands on its private small speedboat. The hotel can also arrange for a guide to take you to nearby waterfalls and up Mount Rinjani, Lombok’s active volcano. Guests can take part in releasing turtle hatchlings and planting corals on the hotel’s Medana Beach.

When to go Straddling the equator, Indonesia tends to have a fairly even climate year-round. Rather than four seasons, Indonesia has two – wet and dry – and there are no extremes of temperature between winter and summer. In most parts of Indonesia, the wet season falls between October and April and the dry season between May and September. December and January see Indonesia at its most humid and rain tends to come in sudden tropical downpours, but it can also rain for more prolonged periods.
