Burasari Heritage, Luang Prabang, Laos - Asian Geographical Adventures

The Burasari Heritage is a colonial style hotel, located in a quiet part of Luang Prabang on the Nam Khan River. Set in a carefully restored, 19th-century French colonial house, this charming boutique property offers 4-star accommodation with air-conditioned rooms. The hotel is conveniently located within easy walking distance of Luang Prabang's important historical sites; the Royal Palace, the Night Market and the Wat Xieng Thong temple.

The chic Burasari Heritage hotel has 21 individually decorated guestrooms. The room design is open plan which means it does not have a separate bathroom, only a toilet. The way it is designed, actually looks great and very convenient to use. The black-out curtains are helpful, if you want to sleep in on a hot sunny day. The in-room amenities include Burasari toiletries and a free mini-bar which is restocked every day with soft drinks and other goodies.

The restaurant at Burasari Heritage serves delicious Lao-Thai cuisine created by a dedicated team of chefs. Simple meals with locally sourced food can be enjoyed in the elegant Dining Room restaurant or on The Terrace, that overlooks the Nam Khan River. The on-site Spa by Buasari and wellness centre offers traditional and Thai remedies. After a tiring day exploring the town, relax at the hippie paradise of Utopia Bar, with views of the Nam Khan river.

Stay The chic Burasari Heritage hotel has 21 individually decorated guestrooms. Superior Rooms are spread out the property. Deluxe Rooms, located on first floor have views of the tranquil Nam Khan River while Deluxe Garden Balcony rooms, on the ground floor, feature a private veranda overlooking lush gardens with tropical fruit trees. Deluxe Terrace Balcony rooms, on the second floor have a spacious private terrace overlooking the picturesque Nam Khan.

ChildCare Children are welcome to stay at the Burasari Heritage Hotel but there are no specific facilities available. However, babysitting service can be arranged on request.

Dine Breakfast at the Burasari Heritage restaurant is served on the terrace by the river, that lies across the quiet street from the hotel. We dined at the Terrace Restaurant on more than one occasion and found the food exceptional, the ambiance peaceful and romantic, and the service excellent. The Night Cap lounge at the Burasari Heritage has a billiard table and a selection of single malt whiskeys, aperitifs and imported cigars.

Relax Tucked away in the lush gardens is Spa Burasari. Overlooking the Nam Khan River, it offers a refined, skillful ancient healing techniques and modern body remedies. We started with a 15-min foot massage and scrub, and then moved on to a one-hour oil body massage. These were, by far, the best massages we had in Laos and very relaxing. They also serve delicious tea after the message.

Experience Explore Luang Prabang’s gilded temples, quaint markets, classic French cafés, and gorgeous landscape. The town’s bucolic streets, its’ multitude of ethnic textiles and crafts and its painstakingly preserved heritage buildings are an ode to its royal heritage, its French colonial legacy. For the adventurous, Burasari Heritage can arrange tour or hikes to waterfalls, butterfly farms, kayaking, rock climbing and emerald green rice fields surrounding the picturesque town.

Location The Burasari Heritage is a charming boutique hotel, in Luang Prabang with a delightful riverside location.

Getting There Take an international flight to Luang Prabang. Lao Airlines is the national carrier and monopolises the majority of flights in and out of the country, though many code-shares with other air carriers. Burasari Heritage is just 10-15 drive from Luang Prabang International Airport.

When to go The climate in Luang Prabang remains tropical. The best time to visit is in the months between November and mid-March. During these months, the days are pleasant and the nights are chilly. Thereafter the temperature begins to rise and March to May gets very hot. The monsoon arrives in the month of April and peak in August but continues until mid-October. Travel is difficult during these months. Avoid travelling during March-April and August.
