Begin at Angkor Thom, the last great capital of the Khmer Empire. Enter through the South Gate, guarded by rows of deities, and visit Bayon Temple famous for its stone faces. This 10th century temple built from pink sandstone is some of the finest Khmer craftsmanship. Next, visit Banteay Samre, an elegant temple surrounded by countryside, a peaceful escape from the crowds. Return to Ta Prohm and experience its magic again as your guide shares stories of its past. Afternoon: Buddhist blessing ceremony at local monastery. Monks will chant and sprinkle holy water and you will receive a blessed thread around your wrist for protection and good fortune.

COUNTRYSIDE JOURNEY & MEKONG SUNSET CRUISE: Today, drive from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh and pass through Cambodia’s countryside. En route, visit the Kampong Kdei Bridge, a 12th century Khmer engineering marvel. This well-preserved stone-arch bridge is one of the longest from the Angkor period. Upon arrival in Phnom Penh, check in to your hotel and then set sail on a Mekong River sunset cruise. Drift past stilted houses and riverside villages as the sun sets. Watch the golden light dance on the water – an introduction to Phnom Penh.

COLONIAL CHARM & WORLD FINEST PEPPER: Today, drive to Kampot, a riverside town famous for its French colonial architecture, countryside and world’s best pepper. Visit the Kep Crab Market where fishermen bring in fresh seafood daily. Try some of Cambodia’s best crab with Kampot pepper sauce – a foodie’s delight. Afternoon: La Plantation, an organic spice farm set against the stunning backdrop of Secret Lake and Bokor Mountain. Learn about the process of Kampot pepper cultivation and take part in a tasting session to savour the different spice profiles that have made this region famous.

KOH RONG ISLAND

PARADISE FOUND: After breakfast, transfer to Sihanoukville Pier and board a speedboat to Koh Rong Island – a tropical haven of white sand, turquoise water and jungle. Check in to your beachfront hotel and relax. Free day. Relax under the palm trees, take a dip in the sea, or opt for snorkelling and diving excursions to explore the island’s marine life. For the more adventurous, jungle trekking to discover hidden waterfalls and wildlife. Beach dinner with fresh seafood as the sun sets.

Return journey: After a morning on the beach, board the speedboat back to Sihanoukville Pier. Enjoy the scenic ride across the Cambodian waters before reaching the mainland. Note: The speedboat schedule may vary but your ticket is included in the package. Upon arrival in Sihanoukville, a private driver will transfer you back to Phnom Penh. This 2.5 to 3 hour journey will take you through rural villages, rice fields and roadside markets.
