Your journey begins in Siem Reap where a private guide and driver will meet you at the airport and escort you to your hotel. Check in and then take a serene gondola ride at Angkor Thom, gliding from the south to the west gate. As the sun sets enjoy traditional Angkorian music, wine and snacks. You have two options for dinner: a lovely dinner at your hotel or a culinary adventure in the city, trying authentic Cambodian cuisine. End the night with a visit to the lively Angkor Night Market, perfect for unique souvenirs and street food.
Wake up early to watch the sunrise over Angkor Wat. Take your time to absorb the temple at dawn and then take a private helicopter tour of Angkor Wat and its surroundings. Today we visit more secluded areas of the Mekong. Explore floating communities where daily life unfolds on the water. See schools, pagodas and even floating karaoke bars and get a glimpse into the resilient and adaptive culture of the Mekong River dwellers. The day is a mix of cultural immersion and river landscapes, deepening your understanding of Cambodia’s many lifestyles.
Visit Koh Chen, a village famous for its beautiful silverwork, often chosen by the king of Cambodia for diplomatic gifts. In the afternoon visit the Mekong’s ‘silk islands’ to see traditional weaving in action. For those who want to be more active, cycling around the island is a charming way to discover its natural beauty and local culture.
Arrive in Phnom Penh and take a guided city tour, including the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda. Alternatively delve into Cambodia’s dark past with visits to the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum and the Killing Fields. Then travel south to Sihanoukville and board a speedboat to your private island resort, the start of your beach escape.
