Yandabo Home Mandalay

Yandabo Home is a luxury boutique hotel, set in the small village of Yandabo, overlooking the Irrawaddy River, midway between Mandalay and Bagan. Guests generally take a break here while on their river excursion on the Irrawaddy, staying for at least a couple of nights. With just 12 rooms, this intimate property offers a true off the road experience in central Myanmar. Popular activities include visiting local villages, known for their terracotta pottery, cycling and walks along the river.

Stay 

Yandabo Home has just four double and eight twin bedrooms. All are elegantly furnished with high ceilings, polished wooden floors and simple whitewashed walls, exuding elegance in its minimalist décor. Ensuite bathrooms feature twin vanities, rainforest showers and L'Occitane toiletries. Room amenities include air-conditioning, hair dryer, in room safe and mini bar. All rooms open out onto a common shaded area with seating. To ensure you have complete peace, there is no Wi-Fi. 

ChildCare 

Families with children are welcome to stay at Yandabo Home but there are no particular facilities available for children. 

Dine 

The central open-air dining area at the Yandabo Home is beautifully located above a central teak deck, on the banks of the Irrawaddy with beautiful views of the surrounds. A team of in-house chefs serve delicious traditional and Asian cuisines prepared with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Please note this is off the beaten track area and as such English is not one of their strong points but the staff will offer authentic and genuine hospitality.

Relax 

Yandabo Home has a lovely wooden deck, surrounded with palm trees with beautiful views of the river. Perfect for relaxing in the evenings with a drink. In the village, you can see the largest gathering of inhabitants of upto 4000 buffaloes.

Experience 

Yandabo is a village on the bank of Ayeyarwaddy River in Mandalay Region. Its known for its beautiful countryside and the traditional terracotta pottery, made from the special clay found along its river banks. With just 400 houses, it serves as perfect spot to relax and explore for a couple of days. Activities include village walks, river excursions, cycling through its forest where, under a tree, a peace treaty was signed at the end of the first Anglo-Burmese war in 1826.

When to go The best time to visit Burma is during the dry season from November to April. At this time the warm and sunny days are ideal for sightseeing throughout the country. The temperatures start to rise in March and May to September is best avoided as this is the rainy season when sightseeing can become difficult.
