Discover timeless charm & elegance in this colonial-style mansion in the heart of Yangon. The Belmond Governor’s Residence evokes the days of the colonial heritage; where tea and cakes are still served in fan-cooled porches with teak armchairs set in a lush garden. We love the peaceful atmosphere after our day’s exploration. Perhaps it is time to lounge next to the tranquil pool and sip on a refreshing cocktail.
The spacious 46 teak rooms at the Belmond Governor's Residence are huge and have a colonial feel about it. The pure white walls are luxuriously decorated in tropical cottons and silks, looking over the private lotus garden and free-form pool. A hand-carved tub seems to be straight from a romantic fairy tale grotto, perfect for a relaxing evening. All the Governor’s rooms have been newly renovated in a contemporary Burmese style with modern touches.
There is an abundance of historical sites around Belmond Governor's Residence to visit or you can venture out to Bago, Myanmar’s ancient capital and seaport. Watch the city on foot, car or bicycle. Shop-o-holics can explore one of the many markets for souvenir or exotic ingredients that make up the cuisine of Myanmar. Enjoy a cooking class along with a trip to the local market to buy fresh ingredients and the chef will teach you how to prepare a traditional salad.

Getting There Yangon airport has undergone a major renovation and facilitates both international and domestic terminals. There is no accommodation in the immediate vicinity of the airport. The easiest way to get to and from the airport to the city is by taxi. The Governor's Residence is 30-minutes from the airport.
When to go The best time to visit Myanmar is between October and April when the weather is dry and not so hot. At this time the warm and sunny days are ideal for sightseeing throughout the country. The temperatures start to rise in March and May to September is best avoided as this is the rainy season when sightseeing can become difficult.
