Han Thar Gardens is a colonial-style boutique hotel, set in the ancient town of Bago, in Southern Myanmar. Situated amid rolling countryside and rice paddy fields, this ecologically conscious hotel is ideally positioned in Burmese countryside, secluded from the hustle and bustle of the cities. With facilities including a lovely pool, fine restaurant and situated half-way between Yangon and Golden Rock, Han Thar Gardens makes an ideal base for those who like to explore Southern Myanmar.

Stay 

Han Thar Gardens has just 15 guest rooms, grouped in three types. The Superior and Deluxe rooms, located in the exterior wings, come complete with air conditioning and have a simple but elegant design. The Eco Grand Deluxe room, located in the main building have a more colonial feel and come with high ceilings and large balconies. All are tastefully designed, clean and equipped with generously sized beds and modern shower and toilet facilities.

ChildCare 

Families with children are welcome to stay at the Han Thar Gardens but there are no specific facilities available for children. However, there is one two-bedroom Deluxe suite which is ideal for families with children. 

Dine 

There is a large in-house restaurant at the Han Thar Gardens that serves a fusion of traditional and international dishes. All meals are prepared with fresh, locally sourced ingredients, many of which are from the hotel’s own organic garden. Meals are served in the dining hall or al fresco facing the gardens. There is also a well-stocked bar with a range of wines, beers and spirits.

Relax 

There is a fantastic pool at the Han Thar Gardens, providing the perfect spot to relax after days exploring the surrounding areas of Bago. There is also a beautiful garden with many spaces to relax.

Experience 

Located half way between Yangon and Golden Rock, Bago is an ancient town with plenty to interesting sites including temples, Buddhist monasteries and local markets. Han Thar Gardens can arrange a guide tour of the town to include Shwemawdaw Pagoda, the tallest in Myanmar, the 16th-century Kanbawzathadi Palace and the 55-metre high Shwethalyaung Buddha. Further afield, guests can take a boat tour in the Moeyungyi Wetlands to view wildlife, including many bird species.

Location Han Thar Gardens is located just over an hour outside Yangon in a beautiful setting surrounded by fields of green. Bago and other cultural destinations such as Golden Rock are located within easy distance.

Getting there An 14-hour flight, via Bangkok to Yangon followed by a drive of just over one hour.

When to go The best time to visit Myanmar is during the dry season from November to April. At this time the warm and sunny days are ideal for sightseeing throughout the country. The temperatures start to rise in March and May to September which is best avoided as this is the rainy season when sightseeing can become difficult.
