The Datai Langkawi, located on the island of Langkawi, is set in the heart of an ancient rainforest. Shielded by a massive mountain range and accessible only from the sea, this luxurious resort is set on a forest ridge, about 300 meters back from the ocean. Designed by a visionary architect, Kerry Hill, his aim was to preserve the pristine beauty of the coastline and to unveil the hidden treasures of the rainforest. Today it reflects not only his vision but also celebrates in design the Malay cultural heritage.
The Datai Langkawi resort has 122 rooms in three types of accommodation; Canopy Collection, Rainforest Collection and Beach Collection. Each room, suite and villa embraces the lush rainforest and offers stunning views from private verandas of the breathtaking Andaman Sea. The main building made of black shale rocks houses luxurious suites of the Canopy Collection. All have balconies that offer views over the rainforest canopy all the way to the Andaman Sea.
The restaurants at the Datai are set in beautiful locations all around the resort. The Gulai House, surrounded by forest serves Malaysian curries, The Pavilion serves authentic Thai cuisine al fresco in the canopy of the rainforest and The Beach Club serves fresh seafood with wide sea views. The Spa, also beautifully located along a stream, offers a wide range of therapies. There is also a fully equipped gym and health club offering yoga and Pilates classes.

Stay The Datai, Langkawi has 122 rooms in three types of accommodation. Canopy Collection rooms are located on the ground floor or on top level of the main building, offering the ultimate balcony view. Rainforest Collection has two-bedroom Villas on stilts, built around a shared swimming pool and along a rainforest stream. Beach Collection has one- and two-bedroom Villas come with private pool are situated right on the Datai Bay and come with full butler service.
ChildCare Children are welcome to stay at The Datai, Langkawi. Canopy Collection rooms make the perfect choice for families with children but for extended family, go for the Rainforest Collection. Babysitting service can be arranged on request.
Dine The Dining Room at the Datai, doubles as a morning breakfast centre and in the evenings into a fine dining venue, serving modern Asian cuisine. The Gulai House with Malaysian décor serves authentic Malay dishes and tantalizing Indian cuisine. During the day, the Beach Club tempts with light snacks and wood-fired oven pizza. Another restaurant worth mentioning is The Pavilion. Rising on a 30-meter high stilts, like floating in the canopy of a virgin rainforest, it is known for its gourmet Thai cuisine.
Relax The Datai Spa has four open-air villas set along a winding stream, designed to let you feel the spirit of the surrounding nature. The calming sound of a purling creek blends with the love song of a cicada and the joyful chirping of birds. Featuring private changing facilities, indoor and outdoor shower and a spacious soak tub with a river view, the charming Spa villas provide an intimate atmosphere and are designed to accommodate couples.
Experience Langkawi is blessed with an abundance of plant and wildlife. Location Nestled in an ancient rainforest, the Datai Langkawi is located on the north western tip of Langkawi Island. The 99 islands of the Langkawi archipelago lie some 20 miles off the northwest coast of Malaysia, in the Andaman Sea.
Getting There One can get to Langkawi by plane. Flying time to Langkawi is 55-minutes from Kuala Lumpur airport, 30-minutes from Penang Airport, and 90-minutes from Singapore Changi International Airport. Fast air-conditioned boats are also available from Kuala Perlis (1hr and 15 mins) and Penang (2hr and 45 mins). The Datai is 15 minutes away from Langkawi International Airport.
When to go The weather in Langkawi is consistently hot and humid all-year-round, with occasional rainfall and cloudy skies. The best time to travel to Langkawi is from mid-November until mid-April, during which time there is very little rain. The mid-season is from mid-April until August when the mornings can be sunny, but the afternoons can be overcast. Langkawi experiences heavy rainfall due to monsoon winds between the months of September and October.
