All are elegantly furnished with polished wooden floors, plush beds with headboard swathed in patterned fabrics and large windows with views over the city. Spacious bathrooms, clad in jagged stone have underfloor heating, high-tech Japanese toilets, translucent bathtub and lush Lorenzo Villoresi bath products. Getting there An 11-hour international flight from London. Andaz Shanghai can arrange transfers from Shanghai's Pudong International Airport, about 45 minutes by car.

The hottest time in Shanghai comes in July and August, with more than 10 days at temperatures above 35 C. The coldest time is from the late January to early February.
