Chorten Kora is an impressive white stupa located near the Kholong Chu River. Built in the 18th century, it is modeled after the famous Boudhanath Stupa in Nepal. The annual Chorten Kora Festival takes place in February or March and attracts people from nearby regions to participate in religious rituals and masked dances.
Similar to its counterpart in Thimphu, the Institute of Zorig Chusum in Trashi Yangtse is dedicated to preserving and promoting Bhutan's traditional arts and crafts. Gom Kora, also known as Gomphu Kora, is a sacred temple and meditation site associated with Guru Rinpoche. According to legend, Guru Rinpoche meditated here and left a body imprint on a large rock. The annual Gom Kora Tsechu, a vibrant religious festival, is held in the temple's courtyard and showcases traditional mask dances and religious rituals.
Trashi Yangtse is famous for its traditional handmade paper, known as "De-sho." The Paper Factory offers visitors a chance to learn about the traditional paper-making process, which uses the bark of the Daphne tree. You can observe artisans creating beautiful sheets of paper and even try your hand at making your own. The handmade paper is used for religious texts, artwork, and various handicrafts, making it a unique souvenir to take home.
