Seti River Camp,Chitwan

The Seti River Camp is situated on the banks of the Seti River, between Pokhara and Chitwan National Park. Set in a grove of trees, this safari style accommodation provides a staging post for rafting expeditions for those who take a 2-day journey down to the lowland jungles of Nepal. Local villages are within walking distance but the only access to this remote and beautiful camp is by boat. The white-water rafting is fantastic which involves a gentle 3-hour float by inflatable raft.

The permanent camp on the banks of the Seti River provides a convenient stopping point during the two-day rafting trip. It is a remote, peaceful location. You’ll be able to take a refreshing dip in the river, relax in a hammock, and share your evenings around a driftwood campfire. Both continental and local cuisine is served in a central dining hall. Soft drinks and local alcohol are included. Coffee and tea is delivered to each tent every morning by the attentive and friendly camp staff.

The two-day Seti River rafting expeditions are run by the renowned Ker and Downey company. The high quality, 14-foot-long rafts are imported from America and crewed by experienced guides and boat boys. As expedition members, you can choose to paddle or simply enjoy the scenery. The first day run includes grade-1 rapids (the lowest level of white water) after which you relax at the Seti Camp. The second day run with Grade-2 rapids is more challenging. Each run last for about 3 to 4 hours.

Stay

Seti River Camp comprises 16 permanent safari-style tents with an en suite bathroom and veranda. The tents are safari style, lit by kerosene lamps and with attached bathrooms. The bathrooms have hot showers and flush toilets. Towels and bathrobes are provided. The twin-bedded retreats feature the convenience of reading lights near the beds and hot running water and flush toilets in the attached solar-heated showers.

ChildCare

Children above 16 years are welcome to join the 2-day Seti River Expedition but they must be accompanied by an adult.

Dine

There is a main dining area at the Seti River Camp, where both continental and Nepalese cuisine is served. The food is cooked fresh by the chef and served buffet style in the dining tent with the other guests. After your afternoon siesta, you are awakened by servers with coffee or tea. As the evening progresses, you can sip your drink by the camp fire as the sun goes down. There are also hammocks around the camp and a fire pit that is lit nightly. It is a very relaxing place, isolated but very calming.

Experience

Embark on river excursions along the Seti, with the rapids encountered varying from light to moderate difficulty as you pass Nepal’s lowland jungles on both sides of the pristine waters. The skilled river guides make the rafting easy for guests of all experience levels.

The Seti River Rafting adventure takes two days and is a fantastic experience for those after a little adventure. Location The Seti River Camp is a safari style accommodation, accessed only by boat on their two-day rafting expeditions near Pokhara. Altitude: 1834 meters.

Getting There Kathmandu has an international airport from where there are regular 1-hour flights to Pokhara. Try to sit on the right-hand side of the plane for views of the Annapurna Range. Alternatively, it's a 4-hour drive to Pokhara. Avoid travelling during festivals.

When to go Nepal like the rest of the Gangetic plains has four seasons. Autumn and spring are the two most favourable seasons for visiting Nepal. The Spring (March to May) is good for treks when forests are full of rhododendrons in bloom. The heat wave runs through May until monsoon arrives in mid-June and stays until August. But in September, when the rains stop, the weather is balmy, the air is crip and the sky is clear; it is the perfect time to visit Nepal.
