Dwarika’s Resort Dhulikhel is a luxury mountain retreat, set on a hillside village of Dhulikhel, about an hour's drive, east from Kathmandu in Nepal. The concept here is to maintain harmony between body, mind, spirit and earth, in order to enjoy a peaceful, healthy and balanced life. The resort has been built using natural materials; stone, wood, earth, and its interior spaces designed with natural fibres and colours, in the hope that guests staying here would enjoy a greater sense of peace.
Perched at an altitude of 1,700 metres in the village of Dhulikhel, Dwarikas Resort has 39 suites in nine, four-bedroom cottages. Built in traditional Newari and Gurung style, it spreads over 20 acres of pine, rhododendron and cherry blossom trees. Three well-placed restaurants offer a choice of Himalayan, vegetarian Japanese, and Zen Buddhist cuisine. There is also a helipad for guests who may like to watch the sunrise with a glass of Champagne at the Everest base camp.
Guests come to stay at Dwarika’s Resort in Dhulikhel, to enjoy panoramic views of the high Himalayas. For relaxation, there are meditation and yoga halls, chakra sound chambers and a maze of 84 Shiva Linga carvings. The most extraordinary, is the Himalayan salt therapy room with translucent walls of pure rock salt that admits daylight from outside – filtered, softened and imbued with a lovely pale-pinkish glow. Alternatively, just relax in the infinity pool with majestic views.

When to go Nepal has a Monsoonal climate with four main seasons. Autumn and Spring are the two most favourable seasons for visiting Nepal. Autumn (September to early December) brings in clear weather with sunny days and warm nights. Spring (March to May) is clear and bright, with occasional rain showers. From June to September is the monsoon season. During this time the skies can be overcast and so the Himalayas are rarely visible from Kathmandu or Dhulikhel. Due to the hot weather and daily rainfall, this can be an uncomfortable time to visit.
