June 01 - 1, June 01, 2025
The Famous Farm is a restored farmhouse, set in the small village of Nuwakot, 1-hr and 30-mins drive northwest of Kathmandu in Nepal. Situated just above Nuwakot Durbar this heritage hotel was created from the shell of a Newari manor house, once inhabited by the commander of the nearby army garrison. The result, it offers a perfect place with a mix of simplicity and traditional luxury for guests to enjoy an authentic rural experience in the heart of the Nepal Himalayas.
Situated just above Nuwakot Durbar, the Famous Farm features just 13 rooms, spread over three buildings, set around an open courtyard. Each room has a traditional Newari design and architecture; open beamed ceilings, whitewashed brick walls, beautifully hand crafted wooden windows and balconies. Each building overlooks the Ganesh Himal and is surrounded by lovely gardens where home-cooked, delicious meals are served in the day and by lantern-lit at night.
Guests at the Famous Farm occupy themselves exploring the nearby nature trails offering majestic views of Ganesh Himal and of the Trisuli river valley in the distance. Nuwakot village is rich in its culture and traditions and hosts many celebrations during the summer months. These include Bull Fighting, Rice Plantation festival and worshipping of its own Living Goddess, Kumari. Near the hotel is Nuwakot Durbar, an 18th-Century, seven-tier pagoda with temples and palaces.
