The Radisson Hotel is one of the better 5-star hotels offerings in Kathmandu, a city which has surprisingly few very good hotels at the high end of the market. Conveniently located in the heart of the city, it is a short distance from Durbur Marg city centre and the historic trekker’s ghetto, Thamel. Although not exotic or sophisticated, it tries to maintain the Radisson standards.
The premium room in Radisson Hotel, Kathmandu are located in the new wing was comfortable; bathroom was excellent with see through mirror and rain shower. We stayed here twice, before and after the Annapurna trek. On our return, we were upgraded to Club Room which was sensational! It was huge with a separate lounge area and even a dressing room. The bathroom was lovely; we certainly took advantage of the steamy hot showers after trekking!
There are a number of places to eat at the Radisson Hotel, Kathmandu. The breakfast buffet in the restaurant off the foyer was great, but our favourite spots were the Splash Bar overlooking the pool with fabulous views across the city to the mountains, and the Corner Bar, which is in a separate building above the bakery. The hotel's Olive Garden restaurant is particularly good for dinner. The hotel’s Tranquility Spa, a 585-square-metre facility is one of the largest spas in Nepal.

When to go Nepal like the rest of the Gangetic plains has four seasons. Autumn and spring are the two most favourable seasons for visiting Nepal. The Spring (March to May) is good for treks when forests are full of rhododendrons in bloom. The heat wave runs through May until monsoon arrives in mid-June and stays until August. But in September, when the rains stop, the weather is balmy, the air is crip and the sky is clear; it is the perfect time to visit Nepal.
