YOUR TRIP DESIGN, PACE & FLEXIBILITY: This guided small-group itinerary follows a fixed route from Kuching to Kota Kinabalu over 12 days, designed to cover Sarawak’s rainforest highlights and Sabah’s prime wildlife zones in one well-sequenced journey. We plan the programme to balance travel days with meaningful time in key locations, including Gunung Mulu National Park, the Kinabatangan River area, and Tabin Wildlife Reserve. As this is a scheduled group departure, the overall structure is set, but we can advise on the best pre/post-night options and sensible add-ons to soften long flights, allow recovery time, or extend wildlife viewing.
PRIVATE GUIDES, DRIVERS & ON-THE-GROUND SUPPORT: You will travel with an experienced tour leader and specialist local guides at key sites, supported by trusted local teams for transfers, park access and activity logistics. The group size is small (up to 16), helping with pacing, wildlife etiquette and smooth movement through parks, boats and lodges. Many days start early to maximise wildlife viewing and avoid heat and crowds; we manage timings carefully and adjust sequencing when local conditions change (weather, river levels, park regulations, operational updates). In remote areas, contingency planning is built in so the core experiences remain protected.
ACCOMMODATION STANDARDS & MEAL BASIS: Accommodation is selected for comfort, location and reliability, using good-quality city hotels and the best available lodges in remote regions where inventory is limited. Expect a practical, adventure-led standard rather than ultra-luxury, with standout stays driven by access to wildlife and national parks. Meal inclusion varies by day and location (often breakfast, with selected lunches/dinners on excursion days); your final departure pack will confirm exactly what is included and where you have flexibility to dine independently. Dietary needs are usually manageable in cities; in remote lodges and on boat days, options can be narrower, so we plan ahead.
FLIGHTS, VISAS, HEALTH & TRAVEL INSURANCE: This itinerary includes internal flights to connect Borneo’s separated regions efficiently, alongside road transfers, river cruises and guided walks. Activity is generally moderate, with uneven trails, steps in cave systems, humid conditions, and early starts for wildlife. Entry requirements depend on your passport and routing; you remain responsible for meeting visa and entry rules, and we will provide practical guidance on typical requirements and timing. Comprehensive travel insurance is essential, including medical cover and disruption; for remote wildlife areas, ensure your policy is suitable for nature-based activities and limited local facilities.
COSTING, PAYMENTS, CHANGES & CANCELLATIONS: Pricing is based on secured group allocations and live supplier rates, and reflects the complexity of operating across multiple parks with flights, boats, specialist guiding and remote lodge logistics. Key cost drivers include seasonality, internal flight availability, limited-inventory accommodation (especially in peak wildlife periods), and park access/ticketing. Once booked, changes can incur supplier amendment fees and fare differences, particularly for flights and restricted-capacity lodges. Where supplier deposits or earlier payment deadlines apply, we will confirm exactly what is due and by when before taking payment or committing to changes, and we will provide clear documentation of terms and deadlines.
TRAVEL INSURANCE
A minimum level of medical and emergency travel insurance is required in order to travel on this tour. Details are outlined in our Terms and Conditions and you will not be permitted to join the group until you have provided evidence of adequate travel insurance. Please read the trip details to learn more about recommended policy options.

During your trip, sometimes it's just more convenient and comfortable to have your own room. That's why we offer the My Own Room option - a single room all to yourself.
