Boat/Yacht

Belmond Road to Mandalay runs cruise journeys from Jan to Mar and then Sept through Jan and last between 2 to 4 nights. It also heads north; near the Chinese border that is perhaps the highlight of the trip. There is a large pool on deck where you can take refreshing dips and soak up the sun as you float past green hillsides dotted with Buddhist temples, their gold-domed pagodas glowing in the afternoon light so wonderfully unique to this region.

Boat/Yacht

RV Paukan cruises the Irrawaddy River between Myanmar’s prominent cities of Bagan and Mandalay. The kingdom of Bagan dates back to the early 2nd-century BC, when more than thirteen thousand temples, pagodas and other religious structures were built. Mandalay, in comparison is fairly modern as it was created in the mid-19th-century. Its magnificent Royal Palace and great pagodas still shine with brilliance of the past. The best way to experience these two cities is on RV Paukan.

Historic

The Tharabar Gate Hotel, is located in front of the legendary gate of the 10th-century city of Bagan. It has 84 luxury rooms including 4 suites. Every room is large and spacious with comfortable beds decorated with teak floors and typical Burmese furniture. Some rooms have a small terraced area for relaxing. All the rooms are fully air-conditioned and feature modern facilities with mini bar and a private Garden. If you are travelling in summer we recommend a room near the pool, perfumed by the frangipani trees surrounding the pool.

The Thiripyistaya Sanctuary Resort is situated on the banks of the legendry Irrawaddy. It sprawls over 24 acres of landscaped gardens, which is home to mature tropical trees and flowering plants, as well as native birds and a number of small tame animals. Oriented towards the west, the Resort revels in panoramic river views, glorious sunsets and silver moonglow, and a pervading atmosphere of profound peace, warmth and comfort.

Bagan Lodge is located in Old Bagan makes it a brilliant base to explore the surrounds. It’s like a tented ‘sarai’, a relaxing stop off point on your adventure into the maze of Bagan temples. The entrance sets the tone for the experience with the resort grounds, tended to with precision and the bar; restaurant, spa and pools (two of them) also perfectly executed. The villas are dotted around the spacious grounds, all topped with a canvas roof tent. All the villas are well appointed, well serviced and comfortable with ample wardrobe space.

Urban Retreat

Aureum Palace Hotel & Resort in Bagan is a unique property set in the middle of the Bagan archaeological zone. Set in 27 acres of tropical gardens, this expansive resort with 114 rooms and individual villas is adorned with antiques and local artefacts. The common areas, including the infinity pool, lobby, and observation tower all offer incredible vistas across Bagan, and there is much value in being immersed within the landscape.
