For relaxation, there is a Ming Dynasty inspired Hutong Courtyard, a beautiful indoor pool and a spa featuring a blend of Chinese philosophies and innovative techniques.
Stay The Waldorf Astoria features 176 elegant rooms and suites. All are luxuriously appointed and beautifully decorated in modern style with an oriental flare. Each are spacious with an array of luxurious amenities, some with an expansive work area and lavish bathrooms. Rooms are spread over two wings with special suites available in the Waldorf Hutong Courtyard. These are designed in the traditional Chinese style providing an authentic traditional experience.
ChildCare Families with children are welcome to stay at The Waldorf Astoria but there are no special facilities available for children. However, babysitting service can be arranged on request.
Dine Dining options at the Waldorf Astoria Beijing include Brassiere 1893, helmed by chef Benoit Chargy. His à la carte menu is a playful mix of modern American and pan-Asian cuisine, with a focus on quality and sourcing. On the second floor, Zijin Mansion is the hotel’s Chinese restaurant, a modern take on Cantonese and Beijing dining with five private rooms. And Peacock Alley, the ground floor bar lounge, a breezy Art Deco space serves signature cocktails and afternoon tea with treats.
Relax For those who like to indulge in ultimate relaxation, there is Waldorf Astoria Spa – it’s where your spa transformation begins. Within a low-lit, Chinese-inspired pre-treatment chamber, you will be offered revitalizing wellness tea, followed by a soothing herbal foot bath, an aromatherapy consultation and by the time your actual treatment starts, you’ll be floating in the air. Alternatively, there is a stunning indoor pool in which to relax.
Experience Ideally located in the heart of Beijing’s Wangfujing district, Waldorf Astoria is within walking distance of The Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square. Slightly further away is whole different side of Beijing with the vibrant 798 art district and fascinating Hutongs. Getting there Located just 27km from Beijing Capital International Airport, the hotel is best reached by car and the journey should take around 50-minutes.
When to go Beijing enjoys four distinctive seasons owning to its humid continental climate, ranging from very warm during the summer to chilly and dry during the winter. Autumn is the optimal season to visit Beijing as the weather is gorgeous and fewer tourists are in town. In winter, it’s glacial outside and the northern winds cut through the city. Arid spring is OK, apart from the awesome sand clouds that sweep in from Inner Mongolia and the static electricity that discharges everywhere.
