Your journey starts the moment you step into Vientiane, the laid back capital of Laos, where a vehicle will be waiting to take you to the stunning Settha Palace Hotel. This day is yours to relax in the colonial charm and luxury of the hotel. Take a dip in the pool or enjoy the delicious food at La Belle Époque restaurant. If you feel like exploring, the streets of Vientiane, full of history and culture, are right on your doorstep.
The morning is yours to enjoy the leisurely pace of Vientiane. Take a guided visit to the COPE Centre and then immerse yourself in the local markets. By afternoon you will fly to Luang Namtha, the gateway to adventure. Upon arrival a short drive will bring you to your accommodation where the evening is yours to unwind and get ready for the adventure ahead.
With the dawn, your adventure into the heart of Nam Ha National protected jungle begins.With a local Khmu guide from the village, trek through the forest and upland rice fields. Learn about the conservation efforts by Remote Lands in collaboration with the local communities to protect these ecosystems. As the day unfolds you will walk through the landscape and end up at a riverside homestay. Here in the natural beauty you will share a meal and stories with your hosts and experience the Lao hospitality.
Start the day with a new adventure as you continue to explore the Nam Ha National protected jungle. Walk along the river where the canopy may reveal deer and monkeys in their natural habitat. Midday you will arrive at a welcoming village where you will have a shared picnic lunch with the locals and a moment of cultural exchange. The afternoon trek crosses the Nam Ha River into the heart of the protected area where the jungle and streams will lead you to open rice fields. The day ends with a traditional wooden canoe back to Luang Namtha, the end of your jungle adventure.
After breakfast drive to Houay Xai. En route visit villages showcasing the diverse ethnic groups of the region. A highlight is the stunning Kao Rao Cave, a natural wonder that will amaze you. Arrive in Houay Xai and check into the Riverside Houay Xai Hotel and enjoy the evening. The riverside bar is the perfect spot to reflect on the day as the sun sets over the Mekong.
Start the day with a boat trip on the Mekong River to Luang Prabang, stopping at Pakbeng. This journey on one of the world’s great rivers will introduce you to the lifeblood of Southeast Asia, a river full of history, culture and natural beauty. See the dynamic landscape and the life it supports as you cruise downstream. The day ends in Pakbeng where you will overnight, lulled by the sound of the Mekong.
Continue your journey to Luang Prabang with a peaceful boat cruise, arriving in the late afternoon. Check into your luxurious accommodation and take your time to relax. Luang Prabang, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is waiting for you but for now just enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
Dive into the past of Luang Prabang, visiting its palaces and monasteries that stand as a testament to its greatness. Wander the streets of the city and feel the history with every step. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant and then visit Tai Lue to learn about the art of textiles and weaving. The day ends at the stunning Kuang Xi Waterfall where you can take a moment to reflect in the clear waters. As the day ends climb Mount Phousi to watch the sunset that paints the sky with colours of the past and present.
Start the day with an enriching elephant hike from a nearby sanctuary that cares for these gentle giants. Feed and bathe the elephants and create memories of the harmony between nature and wildlife. The rest of the day is yours to do as you please, to continue exploring Luang Prabang or just enjoy the laid back pace of life here.
As your journey in Laos comes to an end enjoy a leisurely breakfast and the last moments of peace. Reflect on the journey that has taken you through the culture, history and landscapes of this beautiful country.
