Join a fascinating 9-days journey through South Korea, from the historical Seoul and Gyeongju to the modern Busan and natural Jeju Island. Discover ancient traditions, taste food and explore landscapes on this unforgettable Korean Heritage and Modern Wonders Tour.
Start your journey as you arrive in Seoul, South Korea’s capital. From the moment you land, experience the smooth service as you’re picked up at the airport and driven by private car to your luxurious hotel. Take some time to rest and freshen up from your travels. In the afternoon, join your guide for an introduction to Korea’s history. Your first stop is a traditional Hanok village, a rare find within the city that takes you back to the Joseon Dynasty era. These preserved villages have become cultural hubs, offering a glimpse into a bygone era with their curved roofs and stone structures. Visit museums that showcase Korean handicrafts and arts, and gain a deeper understanding of this country’s heritage. The highlight of your visit will be a kimchi making session. Get into the world of this spicy, fermented food, a staple in Korean cuisine and connect with the culinary traditions that have been passed down through generations.
Spend the day in Seoul’s mix of tradition and modernity. Start with a visit to one of the city’s royal palaces and watch the changing of the guards – a beautiful display of history. Then move to the modern Seoul and explore a trendy youth district, a hub of fashion, cosmetics and culture. Walk through narrow alleys with teahouses, eateries, art galleries and eclectic shops. Next, head to the upscale Gangnam area, famous for its skyscrapers, luxury brands and the latest in cosmetic surgery. This day shows you Seoul’s dynamic character, where tradition and future coexist.
Start your day with a visit to the DMZ (Demilitarized Zone), a powerful symbol of the division and hope for peace between North and South Korea. This buffer zone across the 38th parallel north has been the Korean people’s stronghold since the end of the Korean War in 1953. Visit the Freedom Bridge and explore the strategic area through underground tunnels. For a deeper understanding of the Koreas’ complex relationship, an optional Panmunjom tour offers an exclusive insight into the site of historic peace talks. Alternatively, indulge in Seoul’s food scene with a food tasting tour at Gwangjang Food Market. Wander through the bustling arcade and sample everything from savoury pancakes and rice rolls to more adventurous dishes like blood sausage and octopus tentacles for a true taste of Korea’s diverse flavours.
Leave the urban Seoul behind and head to the historical Gyeongju by high-speed train. Once the capital of the ancient Silla Kingdom, Gyeongju is a city where history lives through its landscapes. Visit the Bulguksa Temple, a highlight of your trip, where the architecture aims to replicate Buddha’s land on earth. This temple complex, along with the Seokguram Grotto, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to some of the world’s most beautiful Buddhist sculptures. Surrounded by Mount Toham, these sites offer a spiritual journey and a peaceful escape where you can admire the artistic and architectural achievements of ancient Korea.
Your journey through Korea’s history and modernity takes an exciting turn as you start the day at the Gyeongju National Museum. Here, dive into the ancient world of the Silla Kingdom with thousands of artifacts displayed in reconstructed pavilions. The museum’s collection gives you a tangible connection to the past, from the royal mounds of nobles and kings to the Seokbinggo, an ancient stone freezer that shows the ingenuity of early Korean civilization. This underground structure has been preserving ice for the elite for centuries and still maintains its cold interior today. In the afternoon, your adventure moves from history to modernity as you head to Busan, South Korea’s coastal city. Busan, with its mountains, beaches, hot springs and seafood, is a complete contrast to your previous experiences. Visit the famous Haeundae Beach and enjoy the sunset while trying local snacks at nearby markets. This Busan experience promises a mix of natural beauty and urban excitement, the essence of South Korea’s diversity.
Wake up to the Busan vibe, a city that boasts of its seafood culture. Start your day at the heart of this culinary heaven, the Jagalchi Fish Market. This bustling market is not just a market but a sensory experience, with an array of sea life from the common to the exotic. Try the local way of life by choosing seafood to be cooked to perfection at a restaurant above the market. After savouring the seafood, stroll through Nampo Street, a lively street with shops selling vintage clothing, books and street food in its alleys. Move on to Seomyeon Street, a hub for shopping, dining and entertainment. Here, discover the charm of pojangmacha, tiny tented eateries that cater to the night crowd with street food. The day ends with a visit to Beomeo-sa Temple, an architectural wonder nestled in the mountains. Surrounded by hiking trails and forests, this peaceful sanctuary is a retreat for those looking to escape the city’s hustle and bustle.
Head to Jeju Island, a place of stunning natural beauty and a tropical climate. Your Jeju adventure begins with a hike up Mount Halla, an ancient shield volcano with breathtaking views of the national park. The hike offers a chance to connect with Jeju’s nature. Put on your explorer’s hat as you venture into the Manjanggul Lava Tube Caves. This geological wonder, 9.3km long, is one of the world’s longest lava tubes and a glimpse into the island’s volcanic past. The day also includes a visit to a traditional village to learn about the island’s culture and the timeless lifestyle of its people. This day in Jeju is a celebration of nature and human history, intertwined on this magical island.
Do as you please in Jeju, an island of volcanic landscapes and mineral-rich spas. Treat yourself to a spa day using Jeju’s famous volcanic minerals or soak up the sun at one of the island’s beaches or go off the beaten track to explore the island on your own. For the adventurous, a hike up Ilchulbong, a 183m high volcanic crater, is a challenging but rewarding experience. The hike ends with panoramic views that sum up Jeju’s dramatic landscape. This leisure day in Jeju is to unwind or explore, whichever you prefer, and make the most of the island’s offerings.

We were inspired by South Korea’s fascinating mix of old and new, and designed this tour to showcase the country’s culture, landscapes and urban energy. From Seoul’s Hanok villages to Jeju Island’s volcanic beauty, we wanted to create a journey that reflects the country’s depth and diversity. South Korea is often experienced in bits and pieces—just the capital, or a quick stopover—but we felt there was more to tell.
By combining historic sites like Gyeongju’s temples with modern highlights in Busan and moving moments at the DMZ, we created an itinerary that’s full, balanced and immersive. We liked the contrast between temple visits and city life, coastal markets and mountain hikes, traditional food and design innovation.
