Shangri-La Singapore: Luxury Hotel in Singapore

Shangri-La Singapore is the grand dame of luxury hotels, set in the heart of the vibrant city of Singapore. Surrounded by 15 acres of leafy, tropical paradise and beautifully manicured gardens, it lies within a high-class residential estate that fringes Orchard Road. Both the Orchard and Stevens MRT stations, and the surrounding glitzy malls, are within 15-minutes’ walk away, but most guests prefer to return on a taxi – exhausted and loaded with their yearly Christmas shopping.

Housed in three separate towers, Shangri-La Singapore has 792-rooms and suites. The luxurious Garden Wing set amongst lush tropical foliage, the contemporary Tower Wing which houses the executive Horizon Club rooms, and the exclusive Valley Wing for the most discerning traveller. Four dining options offer a range of cuisines from Japanese to Cantonese and Italian to buffet with 16 theatre kitchens. And, there are three bars offering fine choice drinks with light snacks.

There is much to do and see in this mega city with many sites within walking distance of Shangri-La Singapore. Visit the oldest Buddhist-Taoist temples, the Thian Hock Keng temple and staggering 60,000 varieties of orchids in its famous National Orchid Garden. Back at the hotel, relax in the gorgeous swimming pool and for ultimate relaxation there is a luxurious yet down to earth, CHI, The Spa with treatment rooms and skilled therapists to rejuvenate the body and soothe the senses.

Stay Shangri-La Singapore features 792 rooms located in three separate wings. The luxurious Garden Wing, with private balconies and ideal for leisure travellers is set amongst lush tropical foliage. The contemporary Tower Wing which houses the executive Horizon Club rooms is great for business travellers, and the ultra-exclusive Valley Wing for heads of state and the most discerning traveller. All are elegantly decorated and come with a Nespresso coffee machine and marble bathrooms.

ChildCare Families with children are welcome to stay at The Shangri-La Singapore. There are interconnecting rooms and the hotel has good facilities to entertain children, including a children's play pool, DVD library and babysitting/childcare services.

Dine The Shangri-La Singapore has four restaurants and three bars. The two fine-dining restaurants; NAMI features the art of Japanese cuisine while the Shang Palace creates outstanding Cantonese flavours. For change of taste there is the beautiful Waterfall restaurant offering southern Italian cuisine or you can try The Line which has a buffet establishment with 16 theatre kitchens. For an exclusive romantic experience, opt for private dining in a 7-metre tall, open-air orchid greenhouse.

Relax Shangri-La Singapore is no doubt, dauntingly large but it also has numerous facilities available to make up for this. CHI the Spa is set amid 15 acres of lush garden abundant with orchids, trees and a cascading waterfall, and has nine treatment rooms offering massage, reflexology, Jacuzzis and steam rooms. There is also a gorgeous outdoor swimming pool and children’s pool as well as a fully equipped health club and 24-hour state-of-the-art gym.

Experience There is plenty to do and see in Singapore, most of which are within walking distance of the Shangri-La. The city's highlights include the shopping on Orchard Road, the Botanic Gardens, Singapore Zoo & Night Safari and Sentosa Island which is accessible by cable car. Wander through Chinatown Heritage Centre to see a replica of 19th century Chinatown. Then encounter the Peranakan communities and their fascinating culture on a visit to Peranakan Museum.

Location The hotel, which sits amid fifteen acres of luxuriant botanical gardens on Orange Grove Road, is a short stroll from the main entertainment and shopping belt of Orchard Road, central Singapore.

Getting there Fly into Singapore's Changi Airport (12-hour 45-minute international flight). The Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore is a 30-minute drive from Singapore Changi International Airport. The hotel is also accessible from the airport by bus, shuttle service, rapid transit and private car.

When to go Any time’s a good time to go to Singapore. Practically on the equator, Singapore is constantly warm (the temperature never drops below 20°C) and humid and gets fairly steady year-round rainfall. The wettest months are supposedly November to January, when it’s also a degree or two cooler, while the driest are supposedly May to July, but in reality there is little distinction between the seasons.
