The Aman Tokyo is an urban retreat, set within the Otemachi Tower in the heart of the financial district, near Tokyo Station. Designed by architect Kerry Hill, Aman Tokyo’s interior is built in traditional Japanese style using natural, locally sourced materials: basalt stone, cypress wood and washi paper. The lobby occupies the 33rd floor while at the entrance is a manmade forest with 186 Japanese trees, a welcome respite amidst the multi-storey skyscrapers of the city.
Spread out within the top six floors of the Otemachi Tower, the Aman Tokyo houses 84 rooms and suites. Each room is a nod to Japanese culture with local artwork, traditional ceramics and paper lanterns. Cypress panelling and chestnut wood flooring create a warm living space, while sliding shoji screen doors separate granite baths with heated stone flooring. Remote control draws curtains to offer magical views through large glass walls of the Imperial Palace, Mount Fuji or Skytree.
The dining options at the Aman Tokyo compete with Tokyo’s world-class standards. Designed in all dark stone, wood lattices, leather seating and black tables, the Restaurant by Aman serves fine Italian meals featuring Yamagata wagyu beef and housemade cannoli desserts. During the day guests can book Aman’s signature tours to explore the imperial palace gardens or learn the 16th-century samurai martial art. Return to the hotel to unwind in its luxurious spa and pool.
