Komodo Resort: Luxury Stay in the Heart of Komodo National Park

Sebayur Island, Komodo

Komodo Resort is an eco-friendly resort, set on a private island of Palau Sebayur in Southern Indonesia. This ultimate paradise is a dream destination, discovered on one of the adventures undertaken by two Italian friends, Stefano and Antonello who love exploring wild places, underwater marine life and watching sunrises. Located about 9 kms off the coast of popular Labuan Bajo, it offers unlimited world-class reef diving and private tours to Komodo National Park.

Spread along a private beach, Komodo Resort has just 16 air-conditioned thatched bungalows. All are elegantly furnished with plush beds, polished wooden floors, glass-walled windows and large veranda's overlooking the sea. The in-house restaurant, set along the beach serves a fusion of traditional Javanese and International cuisine. Since the resort is owned by Italians, you can expect multi-course Italian dishes served in the evenings or you can opt for Indonesian cuisine.

The highlight of your stay at the Komodo Resort is diving in some of the most remote locations within the Indonesian archipelago. The resort has two large dive boats from which diving is conducted every morning. Private diving trips for extreme divers or for documentary purposes can also be arranged. On land adventures include visiting Rinca Island, home to thousands of Komodo Dragons. Sightings are good and you can also enjoy a scenic trek on the island.

Komodo Resort Sebayur Island, Komodo

Stay Komodo Resort features just 16 bungalows. All are set above the ground on stilts and built with recycled teak wood and thatched roof. Inside, the décor is minimalist with polished floors, large king size beds draped in fine linen, a study table and a private terrace facing the sea. Facilities include air-conditioning, hot water, a fan, mini-bar and electric power. En-suite bathrooms are well-equipped with contemporary fixtures and fittings.

ChildCare Families with children are welcome to stay at Komodo Resort but there are no specific facilities available for children. However, each room can accommodate three beds and some rooms have twin beds. There is no babysitting service available at this resort.

Dine The open-air Sunset Restaurant at the Komodo Resort serves a range of Indonesian, Italian and international dishes. Breakfast is an international buffet and lunch is mostly Indonesian cuisine with a choice of fish, meat or vegetarian with salads. With an Italian chef, you possibly cannot escape hand-made pasta in a 3-course dinner served in lamp-lit romantic surroundings. The Komodo Dragon Beach Bar is a delightful spot to unwind after a day of diving, snorkelling or trekking.

Relax Situated on a white-sand beach, Komodo Resort has the Sebayur spa offering a range of traditional Javanese massages dedicated to divers and treatments including masks and scrubs. There is also a well-equipped open-air gym on the second floor of the common area overlooking the sea.

Experience The main focus at the Komodo Resort is diving and snorkelling and has a well-equipped PADI dive centre. Guests have two scheduled dives each morning and an option to do more dives in the afternoon. There is a fantastic house reef, which is perfect for snorkelling but you have to be careful of the currents. The resort can also arrange trips to visit the famous Komodo Dragons.

Location Komodo Resort is located on Sebayur Island within the Komodo National Park. This island is surrounded by a fabulous house reef and there is a huge array of pristine dive sites within the park.

Getting there It is a short 1 hour flight from Bali to Labuan Bajo. On arrival, you will be driven to the harbour for a 30 minute speed boat ride to the resort.

When to go Straddling the equator, Indonesia tends to have a fairly even climate year-round. Rather than four seasons, Indonesia has two – dry (between May to September) and wet (between October to April) – and there are no extremes of temperature between winter and summer. In most parts of Indonesia, the wet season falls between October and April and the dry season between May and September. December and January see Bali at its most humid and rain tends to come in sudden tropical downpours, but it can also rain for more prolonged periods.
