Kaafila Camps, Madhya Pradesh

Kaafila Camps offers a once-in-a-lifetime journey, showcasing unexplored reaches of Central India for the discerning traveller. Recreating the ancient concept of ‘Kaafila’, meaning a caravanserai in Hindi, guests will travel through remote parts of the fascinating country in true nomadic style, with our camp in toe. During the day, while the guests explore the ancient forts and tread through jungles in search of a tiger or leopard, the staff would set up tent and be waiting with a hot cup of tea.

The journey with the mobile Kaafila Camps begins in Delhi with a short flight to Khajuraho via Varanasi. The Khajuraho temples are well-known for the erotic sculptures, but closely connected with their history is the impregnable fortress of Kalinjar, once a stronghold during the Bundelkhand and Chandela dynasties. Here you will discover hidden gems; tombs, temples and dilapidated mansions in the rugged Vindhya Hills and set within a jungle forest, your luxury camp.

Continue your nomadic journey to Panna National Park and then, through the beautiful countryside of Bundelkhand with a picnic lunch in the shade of Baldeogarh Fort. Spend the day exploring the walled-town of Chanderi and discover the medieval architecture protected by its hill-top citadel. Then before the day ends, return to your Kaafila Camp for a well-deserved rest. Drinks are served around a campfire where stories are shared and delicious meals are served under the star-lit sky.

Each tent opens out on to a covered sitting area with table and chairs perfect for a drink after the days adventure.
