June 01 - 1, June 01, 2025
The Victoria Angkor Resort & Spa is a superb French Colonial style hotel, located next to the Royal Gardens and is a perfect base for exploring the Angkor Wat temples near Siem Reap. Nestled, in tropical gardens; filled with ferns, bamboos, bromeliads and palms, it is modern building but Cambodian in style. Staffs greet guests with a traditional greeting at the bottom of the staircase and lead them into a large atrium where cold towels and fresh drinks are served.
The slow rotating ceiling fan, Louvre windows and a relaxing open-air reception and lobby is furnished with colonial-era black and white photos. The Victoria Angkor Resort complex has a tropical resort feel with open-air walkways and salt-water pool. It also has a relaxing spa, the Healthysens, which offers a wide range of treatments, a Jacuzzi and yoga classes. The aesthetically-landscaped gardens give an oasis feel, surrounded by a mini jungle.
The town of Siem Reap is the cultural capital of Cambodia where travellers base themselves to explore the fabled ruins of Angkor Wat. The town has thrived on tourism for so long that it has now become an important town in its own right and interesting to explore. While tourism is focussed on the temples during the day, its nightlife thrives around the pubs and the Night Market with over 200 souvenirs shops selling traditional Cambodian handicrafts.

Its outside dining is gorgeous, with candlelit tables, surrounded by bougainvillea and views of the pool and garden. L’Explorateur bar is a cozy venue offering light dishes set in a relaxing atmosphere.
Relax There's a small spa at the Victoria Angkor, where guests can indulge in a range of traditional massages or enjoy a variety of body scrubs and wraps. Recommend is the hour-long full body Asian massage. When you are done, I suggest you take your time to stand up because your legs will be like jelly. This is just part of the many pleasures you realise that you had missed in your life.
Experience The Siem Reap town is the traveller’s base to explore the fabled ruins of Angkor Wat. The front desk at the Victoria Angkor Resort & Spa can book your day tours with an English-speaking guide and transport. If you still have time then take a stroll along an alleyway known locally as "the Passage." That's where you'll find John McDermott's photo gallery with lovely images of Angkor Wat then visit the ArtDeli, it's a gallery, café and workshop space.
Location Victoria Angkor Resort & Spa, located next to the Royal Gardens and only moments away from the temples, is a superb French Colonial style hotel and a perfect base for exploring the Angkor Wat temples near Siem Reap.
Getting there There are no direct flights to Cambodia from the UK, but good connections are available from major Asian destinations. You can fly with Thai Airways to Bangkok and from there fly either to Phnom Penh or Siem Reap on a one-hour flight. Raffles Grand Hotel d'Angkor is 20-minute drive from Siem Reap airport.
When to go Cambodia is hot all year round and the best time to visit is during the dry season from November to April. In May and June the southwestern monsoon brings rain that lasts until October but it rarely rains all day. Although, this is a low season for tourism, it has its own advantages. It is when the Angkor complex is at its most beautiful, the vegetation is lush, the moats for full of water and there are less tourists so you can explore the temples in peace.
