Mai Chau Ecolodge, Mai Chau

Mai Chau Ecolodge is located in the heart of the Mai Chau valley in Northwest Vietnam. Set above a private hill overlooking the rice paddies and lush mountains are 43 bungalows, built in traditional style with thatched roofs. All are carefully placed on the forested slope to ensure each enjoys panoramic views of the green valley. Inside, the décor is traditional in style with equipped with modern luxuries. There is a lovely lagoon shaped pool, a spa with ten treatment rooms and host of activities making it perfect for those looking for a peaceful stay to experience rural Vietnam.

Stay 

Mai Chau Ecolodge comprises of 43 rooms and bungalows intelligently designed in order to blend in with the natural surroundings. These are grouped in 5 different room types offering garden, mountain or valley views. Each are designed in traditional style, using local materials including thatched roofs, polished bamboo furniture and terracotta tiled floors. Expect plush beds with fine cotton sheets, working desk, air-conditioning, and spacious bathrooms with deluxe amenities. 

ChildCare 

Families with children are welcome to stay at the Mai Chau Ecolodge but there are no specific facilities available for children. There is a 2-bedroom villa with a double and twin beds which is ideal for families and there are also interconnecting rooms. Babysitting service can be arranged, upon request. 

Dine 

There is a two-storey Mai Chau Restaurant perched on the highest point of the resort. Located on the second floor is the dining area offering panoramic views of the rice fields and surrounding karst mountains. The restaurant offers a fusion of Vietnamese and Thai cuisine prepared with fresh local ingredients, many of which are even grown on site in the vegetable garden. There is also a bar that serves a selection of cocktails, wines and other drinks within a cosy Thai tribal interior.

Relax 

Leisure activities include a large lagoon shaped pool with a shallow part for the kids, which offers captivating views of the surrounding landscape. Nearby is the Mai Chau Spa with 10 treatment rooms and offers a menu with a range of therapies including foot herbal treatment, backrubs and full body massage. Thankfully there are no TVs in the rooms so you can focus on the nature.

Experience 

There are many activities that can be arranged during your stay at Mai Chau Ecolodge. Bicycles are free to rent from the lodge, and half day cycling tours are a popular way to explore the local area among a number of trekking and boating excursions. Take guided tours to local villages supporting ethnic communities and visit morning markets while longer treks are possible to the Pu Luong Nature Reserve. Please note locals don’t speak English, so ensure that you have a guide.

Location Mai Chau lodge is located 3 hours from the centre of Hanoi in the Hoa Binh Province of Vietnam.

Getting there 11-hour international flight to Hanoi's Noi Bai International Airport. Mai Chau Ecolodge is a 4-hour drive from the airport.

When to go The best time to visit Mai Chau and the Hoa Binh province is from February to April and September to November, avoiding the heat and the rain. The official peak season in Vietnam is from September to April as these months see the least rain. December to February are the cooler months. May to September is the rainy season with the most rain failing in July and August and typhoons are possible.
