Halong Ginger, Halong Bay

The luxury Halong Ginger Cruise is a traditional style wooden junk, which operates around the stunning limestone cliffs of Halong Bay, northeast Vietnam. There are three decks and just twelve comfortable cabins reflecting refined Asian decor and relaxed elegance. Guests can relax on the top deck taking in the passing scenery or try traditional Vietnamese cookery class. Activities include early morning Tai Chi, kayaking, and swimming in the warm waters of the Gulf of Tonkin.

Accommodation aboard the Halong Ginger includes just 12 Suites in three categories. Junior Suites (37 sqm) with a private balcony on the main deck offer a separate sofa lounge area and bathroom fitted with bathtub overlooking the bay. The Signature Suites are similar in size but are located on the upper deck. The two Regent Suites (50 sqm) are the most luxurious options to voyage aboard Ginger. It includes expansive living area, private balcony and a bathroom with a Jacuzzi.

Stay 

Halong Ginger features just 12 Suites in three categories, spread over three floors. All are decorated in elegant style with wooden floors, bamboo panelling and dove-grey tiles. Two panoramic windows and private balconies ensure you enjoy uncluttered views of sea and the limestone formations. Standard cabins are spacious (16 sqm) with queen size or twin beds and two Regent Suites have Jacuzzi tubs, and are more flamboyant in decor with scarlet mural walls. 

ChildCare 

Families with children are welcome to stay aboard the Halong Jasmine but there are no specific facilities available for children, however inter-connecting cabins are available for families. Children under 5 stay for free in parents' room (only applicable when occupied by 2 adults); 1 child max per cabin. There are also 2 extra beds per junk available at a supplement cost. Children will love the excitement of an ocean adventure but safety of children remains the responsibility of parents. 

Dine 

The restaurant on the upper deck of Halong Ginger, is flooded with light and 360-degree views, with an Al-fresco seating area outside along the railing. Additionally, live cooking stations will enable passengers to interact with chefs for a totally new culinary experience. Lunches are generally buffet style and include Vietnamese cuisine with a focus on fresh catch of the day. Dinners are equally indulgent with three course meals finishing with a dessert. 

Relax 

Halong Ginger's three decks house a comfortable lounge, two well-stocked bars, boutique and informative library. Full floor to ceiling glass windows allow Spa guests to marvel at the beauty of the untouched nature at Lan Ha Bay whilst receiving massage treatments. 

Experience 

Activities during your stay on board Halong Ginger include boat trips to beautiful deserted beaches and unspoilt fishing villages. Headline attractions include Sung Sot Cave, Pelican Cave or Titop Island. Also included are the popular Bright and Dark Caves and the Dau Go Cave. On longer itineraries you will explore further afield heading out to Cat Ba Island and Bai Tu Long Bay stopping off at fishing villages and local villages. Activities also include fishing, cycling, swimming and snorkelling.

Location 170 kilometres from Hanoi, in northeastern Vietnam, Halong Bay is a UNESCO World Heritage site and undoubtedly one of the most beautiful places on earth.

Getting there 11-hour international flight to Hanoi's Noi Bai International Airport followed by a 3-hour drive to Halong Bay.

When to go The best time of year to visit Halong Bay is during the spring or autumn. Because the bay is situated in the northern part of the country, it can get colder in the winter. The rainy season here is at its peak in July to September. July is the hottest month, January the coolest. The dry season runs from November to April.
