This 14-day tour takes you through Northern Pakistan's majestic landscapes, including the Karakoram Highway, Skardu, Hunza, and the Kalasha Valleys. Upon arrival in Islamabad, you will be welcomed and transferred to your hotel. After settling in, the remainder of the day is free for you to relax or explore the city on your own. Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, is known for its modern architecture and lush greenery. Depending on your arrival time, you might want to visit nearby attractions or take a stroll through the city’s parks. It’s a perfect way to ease into your journey and adjust after your travels. Spend the night at your hotel in Islamabad, resting up for the adventures ahead.

Today, you will board a flight to Skardu, a breathtaking region nestled in the Gilgit-Baltistan area. Assuming it's a morning flight, once we land, we will drive outside of Skardu town to visit the historic Shigar Fort, a marvel of rock architecture surrounded by striking landscapes. The fort, which dates back to the 17th century, offers a glimpse into the region's heritage. After soaking in the history and the incredible views, we will return to Skardu for the night. Enjoy a restful evening in this scenic town as you prepare for tomorrow's journey.

After breakfast, we will embark on an unforgettable drive from Skardu, joining the legendary Karakoram Highway. Our destination today is the mesmerising Hunza Valley. Along the way, we will pause at several viewpoints to admire the towering peaks, some over 7,500 meters high. We will also stop in Gilgit for a relaxing lunch. Once we arrive in Hunza, we will visit the historic Baltit Fort, which offers panoramic views of the surrounding valley. The fort is a cultural treasure, giving us a deeper understanding of Hunza’s past. Overnight stay in Hunza, where we’ll use this beautiful valley as our base.

Today is dedicated to exploring the rich history and natural beauty of Hunza. We will visit the ancient forts of Altit and Baltit, both of which were once the traditional homes of the Mirs of Hunza. These forts provide stunning views of the valley and are steeped in history, giving insight into the region's royal heritage. The rest of the day will be spent absorbing the beauty of the Karakoram Mountains that frame this remote region, often referred to as a real-life Shangri-La. The evening will be at leisure, allowing time for reflection or additional exploration. Overnight in Hunza.

Today, we travel towards the picturesque village of Passu. Along the way, we will pass by Attabad Lake, which was formed in 2010 due to a massive landslide that blocked the flow of the Indus River. This stunning 30-kilometre-long lake has become a tourist attraction due to its turquoise waters and surrounding landscapes. Upon arrival in Passu, we will explore the area, visiting the Passu Glacier and the famous Husseini rope bridge, a thrilling and scenic crossing. The village is nestled amidst majestic peaks, offering a serene escape. Overnight stay in Passu.
Departing from Passu, we will head towards the Khunjerab Pass, which sits at a breathtaking 4,693 meters above sea level. This pass marks the border between Pakistan and China and is one of the highest paved roads in the world. The drive takes us through the Khunjerab National Park, where we may spot wildlife like Ibex or the rare Markhor. Golden Marmots are a common sight near the pass. After visiting this remarkable spot, we will drive back to Gilgit for an overnight stay, taking in the rugged beauty of the region along the way.

After breakfast, we will spend the morning exploring Gilgit, starting with a visit to the Kargah Buddha, an ancient statue carved into the rock. This gives us a glimpse into the region's historical significance along the Silk Road. We will then begin the three-day journey towards Chitral, crossing the Hindu Kush Mountains. Today’s destination is the peaceful town of Gupis. The route offers spectacular mountain views and serene landscapes, providing plenty of opportunities for photography and relaxation. Upon reaching Gupis, we will settle in for the night, preparing for the next leg of our adventure.

We will continue our journey through the spectacular Hindu Kush mountains, making our way towards Mastuj. Along the route, we will stop at the scenic village of Phandar, known for its stunningly blue lake and serene atmosphere. The drive will also take us over the 3,700-metre-high Shandur Pass, famous for hosting the world’s highest polo ground. This area is a unique spot where polo matches are played each year during the Shandur Polo Festival, attracting visitors from all over the world. After crossing the pass, we will arrive in Mastuj, where we will spend the night surrounded by mountain views.

Today we will drive from Mastuj to Chitral, completing the final leg of this section of the tour. The drive offers more breathtaking landscapes as we continue through the remote and rugged terrain of the Hindu Kush. On arrival in Chitral, a historically significant town nestled at the foot of Tirich Mir, the highest peak in the Hindu Kush, you’ll have time to rest and explore the area at your own pace. Chitral is a place rich in history and culture, offering a glimpse into the way of life of its diverse inhabitants. Overnight in Chitral, preparing for the journey to the Kalasha Valleys.

After spending the morning exploring Chitral, we will set out towards the Kalasha Valleys, home to the unique Kalasha people. The valleys of Rumbur and Bumburet are secluded, offering a peaceful escape. Upon arrival, we will check into guesthouses owned by local Kalasha families, allowing for an authentic experience of their culture and hospitality. The day will be spent in Rumbur Valley, the quieter of the two, where we can relax, explore by foot or jeep, and take in the simple yet profound beauty of the valley. Overnight in the Kalasha Valleys, immersed in their fascinating traditions and way of life.
Today we will visit the more bustling Bumburet Valley, the largest of the Kalasha Valleys. Our day will include a visit to the Kalasha Museum, where you can learn about the rich heritage and unique customs of the Kalasha people. The valley itself is alive with activity, yet still retains its secluded charm, offering beautiful walking trails and opportunities to interact with the local Kalasha community. You’ll have the chance to see how these valleys, isolated from the outside world, have preserved their culture for centuries. After a fulfilling day, we will spend another night in the Kalasha Valleys.

We begin a long journey from the Kalasha Valleys to Peshawar. This will be a full day of driving through some of Pakistan’s most dramatic landscapes, including a journey through the 10-kilometre-long Lowari Tunnel, which connects the Chitral region with the rest of Pakistan. The tunnel, an engineering feat, cuts through the mountains, making what was once a treacherous road passable year-round. We will arrive in Peshawar, one of Pakistan’s most historic cities, where we’ll check into our accommodation and rest after the long drive. Overnight in Peshawar, preparing to explore the city's vibrant history and culture the next day.

Today we will spend a full day exploring the ancient city of Peshawar, a place steeped in history as a gateway between the Indian subcontinent and Central Asia. Walking through the old city, you will encounter a mixture of Pashtun, Hazara, Tajik, Chitrali, and Uzbek cultures, reflecting the city's long history as a crossroads for travellers and traders. The bustling bazaars are filled with the aromas of local spices, and the sounds of daily life are as vibrant as the colourful textiles sold in the markets. Enjoy a cup of traditional Qawa (green tea flavoured with cardamom) as you absorb the city’s rich atmosphere. Overnight in Peshawar.

On this final day, we will make our way back to Islamabad, where your tour will conclude. After arriving in the capital, you can take time to reflect on the diverse landscapes, cultures, and experiences encountered throughout this journey. From the towering peaks of the Karakoram and Hindu Kush to the ancient cultures of the Kalasha Valleys and the bustling markets of Peshawar, this has been a tour of extraordinary contrasts.
