Arrive in West Sumba early in the morning and visit the village of Waikelo. This is a journey back in time as you set foot in traditional villages, walking among villagers in Ikat clothes, traditional houses, and ancient megalithic gravesites. Explore the scenic land of Sumba, where rugged landscapes and distant mountains form a striking backdrop to its rich cultural heritage and vibrant culture, reflected in lively local communities, traditional music, and dance. In the late afternoon, return to the boat and sail to Sumba’s north coast, with the ocean breeze.

Disembark at Savu Island, set within the legendary spice islands, a region steeped in historical significance and renowned for its role in the ancient spice trade. As the day ends, sail to Rote Island, enjoying the peaceful sea.

ROTE ISLAND

Start your day at Baa, Rote Island with Portuguese influence. Walk through the markets and see the local handicrafts. See the beauty of Rotinese Ikats, shiny silver ornaments and hats made from lontar leaves. A unique musical experience awaits with the sasando, a 12-string harp made from lontar leaves, a glimpse into the island’s culture. Be sure to sample local cuisine such as nasi goreng, a flavorful Indonesian dish that is a staple on the islands. Spend the day in these local delights and then return to the ship, where the crew will welcome you back on board, for an overnight sail to Kupang, enjoying a quiet night on board as the ship glides through the calm waters.

KUPANG - DEPARTURE

As your trip ends, arrive in Kupang and disembark from the pinisi at Tenau's old harbour. If time allows, visit the East Nusa Tenggara Museum, a treasure trove of regional art and artifacts. This last excursion is a perfect ending. After the museum, go to El Tari Airport in Kupang for your next journey or to start your next adventure, with memories of your amazing trip.
