Leopard Safaris Wilpattu offers mobile camping safaris in Wilpathu National Park, North Western Sri Lanka. This extremely beautiful reserve comprises of about 50 ‘Willus’ (or natural lakes) forming an intricate network of waterways, providing a water source to the animals in the surrounding dry-zone forest. The park offers excellent leopard, sloth bear and bird-spotting opportunities. The safari camp is owned by Noel Rodrigo, a wildlife specialist with deep knowledge about the Sri Lankan leopard.
Accommodation at Leopard Safaris Wilpattu is in South African style canvas tents, furnished with queen size beds and fresh linen. There are two family tents that can accommodate four persons in one tent and six persons in anther. All have bathrooms with hot water showers and flush toilets. Meals include Sri Lankan and Western cuisines with BBQs and served in style along with imported wine for dinner. The stay is on all-inclusive basis which includes meals, drinks and daily safaris.
There are daily two game drives into the Wilpathu National Park. Leopard Safaris uses customised Toyota Land Cruiser which provide an excellent view, and are specially fitted with camera support points for photographers. All game drives are accompanied by a wildlife specialist who will share their wide knowledge about the park and wildlife. In between the safaris, you can enjoy a siesta in one of the many hammocks set up between the trees or take leisurely walks to see rich birdlife.

Stay Leopard Safaris Wilpattu features just 8 double tents & 2 family tents. The customised South African style canvas tents include a living area with camp chairs, roll down flaps for privacy, and solar powered lighting. The private bathroom area has an open-air hot/cold water shower, changing area and modern toilet with a washbasin. There is one Luxury tent for those seeking more comfort and privacy and is fitted with air-conditioning, open-to-the-sky bathroom and a private deck.
ChildCare Families with children are welcome to stay at Leopard Safaris Wilpattu. Family tents consist of two separate sleeping areas on either side, separated by a lounging area. Both rooms share an attached bathroom. One family tent has beds for four persons while the other larger family tent can accommodate six guests.
Dine Dining at the Leopard Safaris Wilpattu includes a fusion of traditional Sri Lankan and Western cuisines. Breakfast is either picnic on a safari or on return and more western in style. Lunches and dinners may include Sri Lankan curries, snacks and BBQs prepared with fresh locally sourced ingredients. There is a well-stocked `Jungle Bar’ that serves beer and spirits. Imported wine is served with dinner.
Relax The favourite pastime at the Leopard Safaris Wilpattu is an afternoon siesta in hammocks strung up beneath the boughs of swaying trees. There is also a library with a selection of books on wildlife or guests can learn the secrets of cooking Sri Lankan cuisine with the house chef. After dinner, watch the unpolluted open skies and learn about the star constellations of the eastern and northern hemispheres.

When to go From May to August the Yala monsoon brings rain to the island’s southwestern half, while the dry season here lasts from December to March.
