The Sarai Hotel & Resort

The Sarai Hotel & Resort is a modern, four-star property on Jheel Road in Naran, close to the river and surrounded by steep, forested hills. Its position in the heart of the Kaghan Valley makes it a convenient, comfortable base for exploring Saif ul Muluk, Babusar Pass and nearby lakes.

Rooms are spacious and contemporary, with large windows, many balconies, and views of the mountains or Kunhar River. Expect heating, modern bathrooms, Wi-Fi and smart, hotel-style furnishings rather than rustic lodge décor. Families and groups have a choice of room types, and the overall feel is that of a polished, city-standard hotel in a scenic setting.

On-site facilities include a restaurant serving Pakistani and international dishes, a fitness centre, gardens and outdoor seating areas to enjoy the cool mountain air. Helpful staff, parking and easy access to the main Naran road make the Sarai a practical choice for road trips through northern Pakistan.

STAY

Rooms at The Sarai Hotel & Resort are modern, bright and comfortably furnished, with hotel-style beds, sofas and plenty of storage. Many have large windows or balconies facing the Kunhar River or surrounding hills, which helps remind you you’re in the mountains, not a city block. Heating and decent insulation keep nights cosy in cooler months, while good showers, Wi-Fi and practical layouts make it a reliable base for short breaks or longer road trips.

CHILDCARE

Families will find The Sarai straightforward and manageable, although there is no formal kids’ club. Larger rooms and suites work well for parents travelling with children, and staff are usually relaxed about extra beds and early dinners. The outdoor areas and nearby riverside walks give young ones space to stretch their legs under supervision. It’s a sensible choice for families looking for clean, modern accommodation while exploring Naran and the wider Kaghan Valley by car.

DINE

The main restaurant serves a mix of Pakistani favourites and familiar international dishes, keeping things easy after a day out on the road or at Saif ul Muluk. Expect kebabs, karahi and rice dishes alongside simpler grills, pasta and salads. Breakfasts are filling, with eggs, bread and tea or coffee. While the focus is on straightforward, satisfying food rather than fine dining, most guests find there is enough variety for a stay of several nights.

RELAX

When you’re not driving mountain roads or visiting lakes, the hotel gives you space to slow down. Guests can sit out on terraces or balconies, breathe the cool air and listen to the river. Indoors, lounges provide a warm, dry place to read, chat or check messages. A small fitness room suits those who like a light workout. Evenings in Naran are generally quiet, so most people focus on rest and recharging for the next day.

EXPERIENCE

Staying at The Sarai puts you close to many of Naran’s classic outings, from early-morning trips to Lake Saif ul Muluk to day drives up towards Babusar Pass. It works as a comfortable “hub” on a northern Pakistan itinerary, where you return to hot water, modern rooms and an easy dinner after time in wilder surroundings. For many travellers, this balance between scenic setting and hotel-standard comfort is a key part of the Naran experience.

LOCATION
The Sarai Hotel & Resort sits on Jheel Road in Naran, close to the Kunhar River and a short drive from the town centre. Steep, forested hills rise on both sides of the valley, so even though you are near cafés and shops, the setting still feels distinctly mountain-focused and scenic.

GETTING THERE
Most travellers reach Naran by road from Islamabad or Abbottabad via the Kaghan Valley, usually in a private vehicle or pre-arranged transfer. In good conditions the drive from Islamabad takes around seven to eight hours. The hotel’s position just off the main road makes arrival and departure straightforward.

WHEN TO GO
The best time to stay in Naran is roughly June to September, when roads are open and temperatures are pleasant. Snow usually closes access outside this main season. July and August are busier but ideal for families and first-time visitors; June and September feel a little quieter and cooler.
