Putao Trekking House offers a range of bungalows, set in the remote town of Putao in the northernmost state of Kachin, in Myanmar. The resort is a famous jumping-off point for trekkers who want to explore the region's deep forests, wildlife sanctuaries and snow-capped mountains. Traditional in style, the 16 bungalows are simply decorated and come with en-suite bathrooms and a veranda where you can sit out and relax after a long trek in the mountains.
Amenities
Stay Putao Trekking House features just 16 rooms in wooden bungalows. Built in traditional style, each are simply furnished with a king-size or twin-beds and come with ensuite bathrooms. Choose from either ground or first floor and twin or double rooms, all of which feature over-hanging mosquito nets. There is a small sitting area and enough space to keep your trekking gear and an outside veranda to take in the views of the surrounding mountains.
ChildCare Families with children are welcome to stay at the Putao Trekking House but there are no specific facilities available for younger children. Being in a remote location and in wilderness, it is recommended for children of at least 10 years and above.
Dine The in-house restaurant at the Putao Trekking House serves a fusion of traditional and Western cuisines with a focus on Nepalese food. Meals are prepared with fresh, locally sourced ingredients and served in dining area overlooking the mountains. The kitchen staff are flexible with the menu and will be happy to accommodate any special dietary requirement.
Relax There is a central thatched lobby with a bar area, fireplace and dining room which offers traditional Burmese fare. There are no facilities of the kind expected in a luxury hotel but there are enough spaces to relax and the helpful staff at the Putao Trekking House are always ready to offer advice on visiting local areas.
Experience Putao is the northernmost town of Kachin State. This utterly remote and incredibly beautiful region in the far northern reaches of Myanmar has only recently opened its doors to the outside world. The Putao Trekking House offers a range of trekking options ranging from a day tour to upto 12 days. The main treks include the Rawang Trail and the other is to view Mt. Phangran Razi, 4,300m. Both trails visit Myanmar's gypsy Lisu, Pigmy Tarong, hunting community of Htalu and Tibetans.

Getting there Fly to Putao from either Mandalay or Yangon.
When to go The best time to visit Burma is during the dry season from November to April. At this time the warm and sunny days are ideal for sightseeing throughout the country. The temperatures start to rise in March, and May to September is best avoided as this is the rainy season when sightseeing can become difficult.
