Experience Kalaw is a hill town in the Shan State of Myanmar with a refreshing climate and scenic views. Guests at the Amara Mountain Resort can visit the Aung Ban market that comes alive every five days when locals from surrounding villages come down to sell their products. The emphasis here is on the great outdoors, with mountain biking, bird watching and golf available as well as trekking. Further afield are Pindaya caves with their thousands of Buddha statues, and popular Green Elephant Camp.

Location Amara Mountain Resort is located in the hill station of Kalaw, about 15 minutes from the centre of town.

Getting there Fly to Heho Airport followed by a 1.5-hour drive.

When to go The best time to visit Burma is during the dry season from November to April. At this time the warm and sunny days are ideal for sightseeing throughout the country. The temperatures start to rise in March, and May to September is best avoided as this is the rainy season when sightseeing can become difficult.
