The Oberoi Amarvilas is a premium luxury hotel, set about half a mile from the Taj Mahal in Agra. Fusing Mughal and Moorish architecture, the property is a rich spread of reflection pools and terraced lawns, and a grand colonnaded entrance. Inside are all arches and sandstone columns, with 64 carved-stone fountains, reminiscent of Moghul period architecture. Situated just half a mile from the timeless monument to love, the Taj Mahal, it is the best place to stay in Agra.
Surrounded by ornate gardens replete fountains and pools, the Oberoi Amarvilas houses 64 well-appointed rooms all facing the Taj Mahal. The interiors are refined and stylish, reminiscent of princely India. Rooms feature teak flooring, teak furniture and spacious marble bathrooms with both a bathtub and a separate shower cubicle. For the ultimate in luxury, book yourself into the Kohinoor Suite which offers the best views of the Taj Mahal.
There are two restaurants, one specialising in authentic Indian dishes, as well as a terrace bar with equally captivating views of the Taj. Guests can even enjoy a private candlelight dinner on their balcony, with exceptional views of the Taj Mahal shining in the moonlight. The spa is dedicated to well-being with a full range of Ayurvedic, Thai and Western treatments. Yoga sessions and meditation are also on offer.

Location The Oberoi Amarvilas is located in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, one of the largest states in India. The resort is located at a distance of 600 meters from the Taj Mahal and approximately 15-minutes from the city centre.
Getting there All major international airlines fly to India’s main airports. Delhi is the best point of arrival for Rajasthan and north India. There are domestic flights to Agra but the best way to reach there is either by train or car. There is a new two-lane highway from Delhi and it takes about 4 hrs, with a stop for refreshments. Agra's Kheria Airport is located 13kms from The Oberoi Amarvilas and is approximately a 25-minutes’ drive.
When to go The best time to travel to India is between September and March, when the weather is most pleasant. Summer starts in April and by June, it becomes very hot. By July there is the south-west monsoon, which brings heavy rains to the west coast. Although the word "monsoon" often brings to mind images of torrential floods and landslides, it is not a bad time to travel. The downpour tends to come and go quickly, leaving behind a clean, glistening landscape.
