Ranjit’s Svaasa: Heritage Luxury Retreat in Amritsar

Ranjit's Svaasa is a boutique heritage guest house, set in the heart of the historic city of Amritsar. Housed in a gorgeous red-bricked British colonial mansion dating back to over 250 years, it is now fully renovated into a Heritage Boutique Spa Haveli. Located down a private street, just off the famous Mall road, and within walking distance from the beautiful Ram Bagh Gardens and the Maharaja's Museum, it offers a perfect base from which to explore this beautiful city.

Accommodation at the Ranjit's Svaasa include 18 guestrooms and suites. All are individually decorated with comfortable beds, colourful spreads and antique furniture. Some have open beamed ceilings, while spacious suites are regal in design and comfort. Experience typical Punjabi home cooked cuisine, served in various setting across the property. Check out for ‘Sarson-ka-saag’ (mustard greens) with makki di roti (cornflour Indian bread) the favourite regional dish. 

Amritsar is rich in cultural heritage and there is plenty to see and do. The highlight is the Golden Temple surrounded by a water tank, filled with holy water said to have healing powers. Nearby is Jallianwala Bagh, also known as the Amritsar massacre and the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Museum. In the surrounds is Wagah border between India and Pakistan where guests can watch the changing of the guards. Back at the hotel, there is an award winning 'Spa Pavilion' offering age old therapies.

Stay Ranjit’s Svaasa features just 18 rooms and suites. All the rooms retain their original architectural design, are individually and tastefully decorated in traditional style, and furnished with queen or king-size beds. Rooms open out onto a terrace offering glorious sights of Punjab. Spacious Suites come with sitting area and a spacious bathroom with standalone tub. There are two Presidential Suites with over 100 sqm, each with an extra bedroom and antique artefacts. 

ChildCare Families with children are welcome to stay at Ranjit's Svaasa, but there are no specific facilities available for children. Baby cots and babysitting service can be arranged on request.

Dine Meals at the Ranjit’s Svaasa are home cooked and prepared with fresh locally sourced ingredients. The focus here is in preparing, healthy well-balanced diet that is supervised by Mrs. Ranjit who is an Alternative Medicine Practitioner. Breakfast with fresh Indian bread is on the terrace outside your room or the courtyard, lunch with salads is generally in the garden and dinner is by candle light in the elegant dining hall.  

Relax Facilities at Ranjit's Svassa include lounge areas, cafe and a shop selling local handicrafts. The highlight however is the Svassa Spa, set in a heritage haveli (mansion). Headed by Mrs Ranjit, it offers Ayurveda, Alternative Medicine, Acupressure as well as advice on Diet & Nutrition. There is a fitness centre with basic facilities and yoga classes are held in the courtyard. 

Experience Amritsar is famous for its gilded Golden Temple (Harmandir Sahib), the holiest of the Sikh religion. Nearby is Jallianwala Bagh and the tower of Gurdwara Baba Atal Sahib. Further afield there are many more temples and historic sites to visit such as Goindwal Sahib with its wonderful array of murals, frescoes and floral motifs. Check out the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Museum the showcases artefacts of the man known as the “Lion of Punjab” who founded the Sikh empire.
 


 

Location Ranjit's Svaasa is situated in the heart of the historic city of Amritsar, just off the aristocratic Mall Road. The foothills of the Himalayas are only a couple of hours away is 20 km from the Amritsar.

Getting there Fly to Sri Guru Rm Dass Jee International Airport in Amritsar, followed by a 20-minute drive to Ranjit's Svaasa.

When to go The best time to visit Amritsar is between November and March, when the weather is comparatively pleasant and ideal for sightseeing and visiting the Golden Temple. April to June is very hot while July to October is the monsoon season when the city experiences mild to heavy rains.
