Druk Hotel, Thimphu | Luxury Holidays in Bhutan | AsianGeographicalAdventures.com

Nestled in the heart of Thimphu, Druk is a four-star deluxe hotel that has been recently updated in a chic and modern style. Each floor is differently inspired with a colour scheme drawn from water, air, earth, fire and sky. Keeping with the hotel’s vision to bring out the best of Bhutan, the hotel has kept its architectural design and its furnishings of royal Bhutanese heritage. Rooms are fitted with modern fixtures and fittings combining an old-world charm with modern amenities.

The multi cuisine restaurant at Druk Hotel is noted for Indian food but it also serves Chinese, Indian and American (burger) options. Most travellers decide to eat out in the town to experience authentic local cuisine or Taj Tashi, only short walk away. There are a couple of trendy bars in the surrounds including Hi Jinks but it is good to explore and discover your choice.

There is the business centre with Wi-Fi in every room at the Druk Hotel. Other facilities include a spa with a sauna and a well-equipped gym. The hotel also has a bar with a good selection of spirits and wines. The hotel works well for those who need a central location for work or otherwise. Just a point to note that Thimphu is well known for its nightly barking schedules set by a squadron of dogs. In brief, Druk Hotel offers chic accommodation and good value but the town offers authentic experience.

Experience There is much to do in Thimphu town. Dzongs are an important historical and architectural structures of which Trashi Chho Dzong is the largest and the most impressive. In the valley are number of old monasteries worth exploring. Bhutan is known for its Stamps and Textiles both of which have their own museums. But do visit Voluntary Artist Studio for traditional and contemporary art. One day, visit the weekend market where you can see and meet the locals.

Location The Druk is located on the main Clock-Tower Square in Central Thimphu.

Getting there Flights to Bhutan are either from Bangkok or New Delhi. Bangkok is the best place to connect if you are coming from North America, Australia or Asia. Delhi is the best place to connect if you are coming from Europe, Middle East or UK. Flights from Delhi fly via Kathmandu. We will arrange your flight tickets and visa clearance details. All flights arrive at Paro from where it takes about 1.5 hour drive to Thimphu.

When to go Winter in Bhutan lasts from November to March. The spring months of March, April and May, are best for treks, flora and the many birds of Bhutan. The Monsoon occurs between June and August. The two-month window between October and November are arguably the best months with clear skies and chilly nights. It is also a good time for trekking into the Himalayas, sitting around a camp fire and seeing the high Himalayas in the morning and evening golden light.
