La Résidence Hôtel & Spa, Hue is an enchanting boutique hotel set on the banks of the fabled Perfume River. Built in the 1930s as part of the colonial governor's official home, the hotel's bowed facade is straight out of the Modern school of Art Deco architecture. A small, semi-circular lobby with an attached bar, provides a comfortable seating area. Endowed with opulence and warmth, it appears to have been painstakingly restored and refashioned into an exceptional design hotel.
The two new wings at the La Résidence Hôtel, extend the number of rooms to 122, each with a private balcony or terrace and many with views of the river and the famous Flag Tower-fronted Hué Citadel, once home to Vietnam's emperors. Inside, high ceilings and hardwood terrazzo floors are mixed up with opulent, Old World touches such as louvered shutters, Art Deco furnishings and reproductions of paintings by colonial-era artists.
Dining at the La Résidence Hue Hotel is mainly at the Le Parfum Restaurant where talented chefs have designed a menu with creative Asian, Vietnamese and European flavours. It also holds cooking classes that can take you on a culinary journey from the local market to a hands-on lesson in Vietnamese cuisine. The hotel’s Le Spa has 7 relaxation rooms and features herbal sauna and Jacuzzi. There is also a swimming pool, health club and tennis court.
