Bassac Boat comprises of three traditional rice barges, typical to the Mekong Delta. These are beautifully converted into luxury boats, with 6 or 12 wooden cabins, spread out in two or three decks. The twin cabins are elegantly designed with air-conditioning and have ensuite bathrooms. While the facilities aboard Bassac Boats may be simple compared to other cruise options in the Delta, they are ideal if you are looking to immerse yourself in local culture and traditions.
Amenities
Stay The Bassac Cruise fleet comprises of three boats. The first boat, which started life as a rice barge has only six cabins, while the other two, introduced in 2007, has 12 Cabins each. These new wooden riverboats are built to a Colonial aesthetic and have twin beds, sound-proofed and air-conditioning with en-suite bathrooms with hot shower.
ChildCare Families with children are welcome to stay aboard Bassac Boats but there are no specific facilities available for children. The service, however, is very personalised and the crew will do their very best to help with any requests and make your stay as a family as comfortable as possible. Children will love the excitement of the journey down the river but safety of children remains the responsibility of parents.
Dine There is an open-air dining room on the upper deck a welcoming and well stocked bar on board both Bassac Boats. Breakfast is usually Western-style and there is a set menu of Vietnamese and regional dishes for lunch and dinner.
Relax Relax on the sunbathing deck set on the upper deck and enjoy the Vietnam’s rural landscapes and river life. The atmosphere is very much communal with a good opportunity to meet and get to know both the crew and the other passengers on board.
Experience Guests on the Bassac Cruise get to sample of the region’s culture and natural history with daily excursions and wide range of activities. Onshore excursions en route are led by local guides who will be on hand to explain anything you may wish to know.
