La Veranda Resort: Luxury Beachfront Hotel in Vietnam

La Veranda is a posh, beachside resort, set on the western shores of Vietnam's Phu Quoc island. The accommodation features an intimate cluster of custard-yellow colonial-style bungalows, centred around a cobalt-blue-tiled pool and surrounded by flowering tropical plants. There are two good restaurants, a lively bar, and a modest spa, but the real draw is the location: situated right on a 12-mile stretch of soft sand with prime sunset views over the sea. The concierge can arrange snorkelling or diving excursions in the nearby An Thoi archipelago as well as night-time squid-fishing trips.

Stay La Veranda features 70 rooms and suites, spread out across several buildings throughout the tropical grounds. The Deluxe Garden rooms and the larger Premier rooms are set in the mansion and come with artistic mosaic tiled floors and French windows with garden or sea views. The colonial style villas have contemporary touches and feature soothing dark woods, breezy natural linens, and spacious bathrooms with bathtubs. All have air-conditioning, iPod docking stations, Wi-Fi, modern amenities and shaded terraces or private balconies.

ChildCare Families with children are welcome to stay at La Veranda. There is an excellent Kids Club during the popular summertime season (please check) with activities programme. There is also a children's pool attached to the main pool. For the rest of the year, there are limited facilities which may include arts and crafts or a film on rainy days. Babysitting service can be arranged, upon request.

Dine There are two restaurants at La Veranda, with The Pepper Tree serving Vietnamese and Fusion cuisine, and Le Jardin offering more casual all-day dining on the beach and by the pool. Ignore the Western dishes in favour of the Vietnamese dishes that feature the two products for which Phu Quoc is best known—peppercorns and nuoc mam, the fermented fish sauce that’s the ketchup of Vietnam. The sophisticated lounge bar, aptly name Le Bar, comes into its own after sunset, when the sophisticated Art Deco styling is lit up with the soft light of the sunset.

Relax Facilities at the La Veranda include an outdoor swimming pool, where you can cool off on a hot day. Sunseekers will love the spectacular beaches that extend beyond the horizon and great for leisurely walks. Alternatively, indulge in a range of rejuvenating treatments at the resort’s spa. Try the exfoliating green tea body scrub or therapeutic Vietnamese massage for muscle relief. If you need to blow off some steam, head to the gym or take complimentary yoga sessions on the beach.

Experience La Veranda has complimentary kayaks, body boards, volleyball and badminton equipment for those who like to stay close to the beach. For those who wish to go out and explore, there are complimentary bicycles. La Veranda also arranges boat trips to a private uninhabited island, with pristine sandy beach, tropical jungle, and coral reefs off the shore, perfect for snorkelling. Other activities include diving and fishing available between October and April.

Location La Veranda is situated on Phu Quoc island, which is 50km off the south coast of Vietnam. It's actually only 15km from coastal Cambodia and is the largest island in the Gulf of Thailand.
