Arriving in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE, you are immediately surrounded by modern architecture and ancient traditions. An Asian Geographical representative will meet you at the airport and transfer you to a selected hotel where luxury and comfort is key. This day is kept light to allow you to acclimate to the luxury and Emirati hospitality. Take time to enjoy the hotel’s facilities, perhaps have a spa treatment or a meal at one of the on site restaurants, set the pace for the adventure ahead.
Your first full day in Abu Dhabi starts with breakfast at your hotel. Today you will experience the UAE’s cherished traditions with a visit to the Falcon Hospital, a unique facility dedicated to the care of these magnificent birds. This will give you insight into the cultural importance of falconry in the UAE and the modernity of Ferrari World. This theme park is home to the fastest roller coaster in the world and is fun for all ages. The day’s activities are designed to showcase the contrasts of Abu Dhabi, from heritage to leisure. Return to your hotel in the evening to relax and unwind, perhaps by the pool.
After breakfast, a scenic drive takes you to Al Ain, the Garden City of the UAE, famous for its greenery and cultural sites. The visit to the camel market will give you a glimpse into traditional Arabian commerce and lifestyle, a lively scene of negotiation and camaraderie. Lunch will be a casual affair with local delicacies. The afternoon’s dhow cruise along the Mangrove River will be a relaxing exploration of Abu Dhabi’s natural beauty, a peaceful contrast to the morning’s bustling market. Back on the mainland and into the desert, the contrast to the previous days’ water-based adventures is stark and beautiful. The drive to Liwa Oasis is an adventure in itself, with an optional stop at the Emirates National Auto Museum to see the eccentric collection of Sheikh Hamad Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan. The dune bashing in the afternoon is a thrilling introduction to the desert’s vastness and beauty, followed by a traditional Arabian banquet under the stars at Al Falaj, a taste of Bedouin life.
