The Dhara Dhevi Hotel is an intricately designed retreat, located deep in Northern Thailand’s Amphur Muang Province outside of Chiang Mai. Set on roughly 60 acres of manicured tropical grounds this hotel is fit for the royals, the rich and famous. The resort’s ornate, pagoda-like design, with towering gilt spires evokes the Thai villages of old. It’s an ancient Lanna in miniature, full of moats, fortified walls, and veering walkways erected over watery rice paddies.
Set within well-tended gardens, Dhara Dhevi Hotel offers 123 opulent suites and villas. All are regal to match and are both generous in size, adorned with Thai silks and teak wood furnishings. Guests can opt for the ground floor colonial rooms offering direct access to the tiled pool or the two story Lanna-style villas, built in the style of traditional teak rice houses. Dining options range from northern Thai cuisine at Le Grand Lanna to the French fare at Farang Ses.
The indulgent Ayurveda-dedicated pavilion has a dedicated in-house specialist and includes yoga programmes. The culinary academy is a fantastic place to learn how to reproduce Lanna dishes back home. The cultural centre focuses on understanding the history and traditions of the region where local ladies teach children about Lanna handicrafts and traditions. There is also an alpaca and a pony for the kids and two fabulous pools for you to relax and enjoy.
