Shiv Niwas Palace is a luxurious heritage hotel, set in the heart of Jaipur in central Rajasthan. Originally built in the 1700s as a guesthouse for visiting guests and dignitaries of the Mewar royal family, it was later extended to provide luxurious accommodation for discerning travellers visiting Jaipur. This includes Roger Moore who stayed here during the filming of the James Bond Film Octopussy. Centrally located, it forms a perfect base from which to explore the Jaipur city.
Once reserved exclusively for royal guests, Shiv Niwas Palace now offers 36 luxurious rooms and suites. All are elegantly decorated in the old regal style, with marble floors, rich carpets and gilded mirrors. Splash out on the Imperial suite with ornate checkerboard floors and a working fountain right in the bedroom, or book the Terrace Suites with unparalleled views of the Pichola Lake and the surrounding countryside. Whichever room you take, you are bound to experience life king size.
Three elegant restaurants at the Shiv Niwas Palace serve delicacies from the Mughal, Continental and authentic Rajasthani cuisines. For relaxation there is a beautiful pool situated in the centre of the main courtyard. During the day, explore forts and palaces including Nahargarh fort and take an elephant ride to the hilltop Amber Fort known for bejeweled walls in the Hall of Mirrors. One day, visit the bazaars of Jaipur selling handicrafts, jewels and Rajasthani miniature paintings.
