Ratan Vilas is a heritage hotel, set just outside the walls of central Jodhpur in Western Rajasthan. Built by Maharaja Ratan Singhji in the 1920s, it is a beautiful villa with delicately carved exteriors and regale interiors. The villa is still owned by his grandson, Maharaj Bharat Singhji and serves both as a family home as well as a guesthouse. Situated close to old Jodhpur, it forms a perfect base from which to explore the city, its historical sites and the surrounding desert.
Housed within this heritage villa, Ratan Vilas has 22 air-conditioned rooms. All are different in size and shape and independently decorated with family memorabilia, beautiful Indian fabrics and antique furniture. The in-house restaurant serves delicious meals prepared with recipes from the royal Rajasthani kitchens. Breakfasts are served outside in the courtyard gardens and lunches and dinners tend to be buffet style Indian fare with some western favourites.
This property is best suited for guests who prefer plenty of character, local culture and appreciate true Rajput hospitality. Ratan Vilas is situated slightly out of town but it offers quieter surrounds than the walled-city and provides easy access to nearby historical sites such as Mehrangarh Fort, Jaswant Thada, Mandore Gardens and take a jeep safari to explore the surrounding desert. The hotel also features a lovely blue-tiled pool for relaxing when not exploring the city.

Getting there Fly into Delhi's Indira Gandhi International followed by a 1-hour domestic flight to Jodphur. It's a 15-minute drive from Jodphur Airport to Ratan Vilas.
When to go Rajasthan is known as the desert state. It is largely hot and dry throughout the year, making it a great destination to get away from European winters. Summer in Rajasthan extends from April to June. Although it rarely rains in Rajasthan, the temperature drops slightly during the Monsoon period from July to September, and humidity increases. Post-monsoon period from October to November is the official "tourist season" in Rajasthan that extends into the winter months from December to March when its warm during the day and chilly at night.
