Taj West End Bengaluru: Luxury Heritage Hotel in Bangalore

Taj West End is a colonial style heritage hotel, set within 20-acres of beautiful gardens in the city of Bangaluru. Founded in 1887 as the Bronsons West End, the hotel has played host to the likes of Dame Peggy Ashcroft during the filming of ‘Passage to India’, Prince Charles and the Queen Elizabeth II. Stories abound that Sir Ronald Ross discovered the cure for malaria here and Sir Winston Churchill supervised the making of his favourite snack that became the world famous ‘Club Sandwich’.

Surrounded by 150-year old raintrees, gulmohars, and banyan trees, Taj West End Bengaluru offers 117 rooms, all of which are delightfully furnished with modern amenities. There are a mix of rooms and suites with contemporary décor, vibrant colour schemes and private balconies or verandas overlooking the gardens, home to 30 species of birds including barbets and Brahmini kites. The ambience is old-world charm with luxurious bathrooms, Wi-Fi, minibar and tea/coffee facilities. 

Dining options at the Taj West End include three restaurants offering a range of cuisine from traditional Mysore royal dishes to Vietnamese to typical Indian and western favourites. For relaxation hit for the swimming pool or the grand Jiva Spa with a sauna and Jacuzzi. There are two floodlit tennis courts, the Bangalore Golf Club is just opposite the hotel and there is a fitness centre. Other activities on offer include fishing in the Cauvery river or trekking in the Nandi Hills.

Stay The Taj West End features 117 guest rooms and suites. Standard rooms, housed in the 1905-vintage Heritage Wing, offer private verandas over the garden. Spacious club rooms have access to a private lounge with free food and drinks and villas scattered about the property contain luxury suites with separate living rooms. The décor is a mix of vibrantly hued fabrics with contemporary furniture. Luxurious bathrooms have couple’s showers and English-style butlers cater to all guests.

ChildCare Families with children are welcome to stay at Taj West End Bengaluru. Kids receive Taj Hotel’s trademark activity passport on arrival and can take part in host of activities specially designed for children. Kid’s learn about the flora on a fun golf cart ride, make cakes and learn to cook with the chef and get customised turndown service. Babysitting is available on request.

Dine There are three gourmet restaurants at the Taj West End Bengaluru. Savour contemporary style authentic Indian favourites at Masala Klub or delicious Vietnamese cuisine in the open-air Chinese pavilions of Blue Ginger. Begin your day at the Mynt, where expansive buffet breakfasts are served with western and South Indian dishes such as idlis, dosas and healthy fruit juices. In the evening, quench your thirst at the Blue Bar that serves curry and spice-infused cocktails.

Relax Facilities at the Taj West End hotel include two delightful swimming pools and two floodlit tennis courts. There is an exceptional Jiva spa, set in the oldest part of the property, featuring three treatment rooms, including a couple’s room, as well as a sauna, Jacuzzi and an adjacent fitness centre. Within the hotel is a library with comfortable seating and surrounding gardens where guests can take leisure walks with the resident horticulturalist or historian.

Experience Bengaluru, India's high-tech city is known for its parks and historical sites. These include the 19th-century Bangalore Palace, built in Tudor-style architecture and inspired by England's Windsor Castle, the 18th-century Tipu Sultan's Palace and the expansive Lalbagh Botanical Garden known for its rose gardens and not-to-miss the National Gallery of Modern Art. Activities on offer at the Taj West End include fishing, paragliding, trekking in the Nandi Hills and the Bangalore's amusement park.
 


 

Location Taj West End is situated on Racecourse Road in High Grounds, 5-minutes from the city centre. The hotel is located opposite to Bangalore Turf Club and next to Bangalore Golf Club.

Getting there Taj West End is approximately a 1-hour drive from the nearby Bangalore International Airport (10-hour direct flight), and 10-minutes from the Bangalore Railway Station.

When to go Isolated from much of India by the Western Ghats, the climate of Kerala & Karnataka is tropical. The best time to visit is from January through to April. Summer is hot and humid; the monsoon season arrives in early June and lasts till August. While September can be dry and humid. There can be a little rain in October and November, cooling off around December and lasting until February.
