DAY 1

Yerevan

Arrive at Yerevan International Airport where you will be greeted off the aerobridge by a representative and escorted to a VIP lounge where arrival formalities will be handled. Then, you and your luggage will be taken to the arrival hall to meet your guide and driver. Transfer by private luxury vehicle to your hotel and check in and relax for the rest of the evening.

DAY 2

Yerevan

Today is spent exploring Yerevan, Armenia’s capital and cultural centre. This attractive city is divided by the Hrazdan River and framed by mountain peaks to the north and across the Turkish frontier to the south. Stroll along the city centre’s tree-lined boulevards and take in the scene: traditional taverns, chic wine bars, street fashion boutiques, outdoor cafes, Soviet-era buildings, and modern structures. Stop by the city’s iconic landmarks which include Republic Square, Yerevan Opera Theatre, and the Yerevan Cascade, a giant stairway made of limestone where locals come to congregate for festivals and on sunny days. You may want to grab a cup of coffee and sit on a bench and enjoy some people-watching, as the locals do. After lunch, continue to the Armenian Genocide Memorial, a hilltop complex dedicated to the victims of the Armenian genocide. Next door is the Museum-Institute which features exhibits, a library, and a reading hall. Finally, visit Yerevan Brandy Factory, home of the country’s most famous brand of Armenian brandy called ARARAT. Learn about the spirit’s historical heritage as you walk around the museum, as well as the secrets of modern production in the factory. End the tour and the day with a degustation of a selection of ARARAT brandies.

DAY 3

Yerevan

This morning, drive just west of Yerevan city to Zvartnots Cathedral, one of the country’s culturally-important sites. This UNESCO Heritage Site is an architectural masterpiece constructed between 643-652 AD and its innovative techniques provided the architectural blueprint for many churches throughout the Caucasus and Eastern Anatolia. Though it was destroyed in the 10th century, the ruins and on-site museum are worth a visit. Continue onward to Echmiadzin, another must-see highlight of Armenia and another UNESCO Heritage Site. Etchmiadzin is the name of the city and its eponymous cathedral, which is the mother church of the Armenian Apostolic Church and thus a major pilgrimage site. On the way back to Yerevan, stop at Voskevaz Winery known for its selection of quality wines produced using endemic Armenian grape varieties. Its premium line uses the traditional method of aging the wine in a clay vessel called a ‘karas.’ Take a tour of the winery and enjoy a private sampling of different wines.

DAY 4

Dilijan

Begin your day departing Yerevan, heading towards the tranquil Lake Sevan, renowned as the largest body of water in the Caucasus. Here, a leisurely walk around the lake offers a refreshing start, followed by a visit to the historic Sevanavank monastic complex perched on a peninsula. Your journey then leads to Dilijan, affectionately known as the Little Switzerland of Armenia. This charming resort town, nestled amid lush forests and alpine meadows, is celebrated for its healing climate, nature trails, and a vibrant arts and crafts scene. Wander through Old Dilijan’s cobbled streets, lined with well-preserved traditional buildings, offering a living history experience. Explore local monasteries and the folk art museum, and enjoy the serene beauty of Lake Parz. Conclude your day with a visit to the majestic Haghartsin Monastery, an architectural marvel surrounded by verdant forests, before spending a peaceful evening in Dilijan.

DAY 5

Tbilisi

Today marks a scenic drive north through Lori's highlands, with awe-inspiring views of river gorges and rustic villages. En route to Georgia, visit the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Haghpat and Sanahin monasteries, marvelling at their exquisite Byzantine architecture. Upon reaching the border, transition seamlessly to your Georgian guide and driver, bidding farewell to Armenia. Continue to Tbilisi, Georgia's captivating capital. Check into your hotel and spend the evening at your leisure, resting up for the next day’s explorations.

Dedicate this day to uncovering the wonders of Tbilisi, a city where Eastern and Western influences intertwine. Begin at the 13th-century Metekhi Church, offering panoramic views over the Old Town. Meander through charming streets, past colourful houses with traditional wooden balconies, and witness the architectural tapestry of churches, Soviet-era structures, and modern buildings. Ascend to Narikala Fortress via cable car, enjoying spectacular city and river views, then stroll past the iconic Mother Georgia statue towards the historic sulphur bathhouses. End your day at the History Museum, where you can delve into Georgia's past with its Archaeological Treasury, or choose to visit the eclectic flea market for a taste of Tbilisi's vibrant culture. Discover everything from Soviet memorabilia to unique art pieces in this treasure trove of history and creativity.

DAY 7

Stepantsminda

Embark on a morning journey to Mtskheta, a mere half-hour north of Tbilisi. This ancient capital of Georgia, situated at the confluence of two rivers, is a treasure trove of historical and religious significance, meriting its UNESCO World Heritage Site status. Visit the revered Jvari Monastery and Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, home to the sacred Robe of Christ. Next, explore Mukhrani village, where you'll discover the legacy of Ivane Mukhranbatoni, a pioneer in Georgian winemaking. Relish a delightful lunch at his estate, followed by wine tasting and an engaging wine painting master class. The day continues with a scenic drive along the Georgian Military Highway towards the Great Caucasus Mountains, pausing to admire the Ananuri complex and the serene Zhinvali reservoir. Tbilisi

Next, delve into the natural splendour of Dariali Gorge, marvelling at its dramatic depth and beauty. After absorbing the gorge's magnificence, return to Tbilisi to enjoy the remainder of the day at your leisure.

Kakheti Wine Region

Journey east to the renowned Kakheti wine region. Your first stop is the charming town of Sighnaghi, adorned with 18th-century architecture and panoramic views of vineyards from its hilltop vantage. In Tsinandali, visit the historic Chavchavadze estate, featuring a picturesque garden, a pioneering winery, and a memorial house. Here, delve into the history of Georgian winemaking, which saw its first bottled wines. Experience traditional Georgian winemaking techniques at a local wine cellar, savouring a selection of bio-wines crafted in Kvevri, large clay fermentation vessels. Sheki

Savour your final morning in Georgia before venturing to Azerbaijan. After a brief journey past vineyards, cross the border and meet your Azeri guide and driver. Begin your Azerbaijani exploration with a visit to the historic town of Kish, home to one of the Caucasus' oldest churches. Then, proceed to Sheki, a city steeped in history as a key Silk Route trading hub. Admire Sheki's architectural beauty, showcasing influences from various historical epochs. Explore the Palace of Sheki Khans, a marvel of intricate design and stained-glass work, and visit the historic caravanserai, now partly a modern hotel and museum. Baku

Journey eastward to Baku, with a detour to the culturally rich village of Lahij, nestled on the southern slopes of the Greater Caucasus. Visit the enigmatic Maiden Tower, the city's symbol dating back to the 6th century BC, and the architecturally stunning Shirvanshah’s Palace. In the afternoon, drive to Gobustan Historical Reserve to marvel at prehistoric rock carvings depicting scenes from the ice age. Baku

Start the day by visiting the Absheron Peninsula and the Ateshgah Fire Temple, a historic Zoroastrian site known for its natural gas flames. Explore the temple, now fed by Baku's gas supply, a nod to its ancient flame worship heritage. Continue to Yanar Dag, the 'Fire Mountain', where natural gas fires burn eternally on its slopes. Baku - Departure
