The Pottinger is a charming city hotel, set in one of the oldest parts of Hong Kong. Small and boutique, this historically rich property fills a gap between the plethora of opulent multi-room 5-star hotels and a smaller property with local character and a homely atmosphere. Situated on Stanley Street, next to the iconic Pottinger Street stone stairwell in the middle of the vibrant Central neighbourhood, rife with shopping, cultural sites, entertainment and dining options.
Showcasing the old Hong Kong charm, The Pottinger offers 68 rooms with a soothing pastel palette of cream decorated with painted cherry-blossom headboards and art deco furniture. Designed to resemble a Chinese residence, the rooms have a small couch or seating area as well as several local touches. White marble bathrooms have large walk-in rain showers while suites have a rolling bath. The tech-savvy features include a 42-inch TV, a Nespresso machine and a smartphone.
The main Gradini Ristorante E Bar in The Pottinger Hong Kong specialises in classic Italian dishes. Located on the second floor is the two Michelin-starred Ta Vie, an elegant French and Japanese fine-dining restaurant that specialises in Asian alcohol, such as Grace wines from China and Hibiki whiskey from Japan. Outside, the Central district is right on the doorstep, and easy to head straight from the hotel and into an area brimming with shops and dining options.
Amenities
Stay The Pottinger hotel is home to 68 luxury guestrooms and suites, grouped into several categories. The lead-in Classic Rooms are of modest size and Deluxe Rooms are slightly larger and worth the upgrade. Those wanting more space can opt for the 45 sqm Studio Suites with King Size beds, glass-walled windows and facilities to include Nespresso Coffee Machine, Minibar and Cable TV with Blu-ray DVD Player. The large Pottinger Suite features a bathroom, separate lounge and a restroom.
ChildCare Families with children are welcome to stay at the Pottinger but there are no specific facilities available for children. Studio Suites and the Pottinger Suite can accommodate an extra bed. Babysitting service can be arranged, upon request.
Dine The in-house Italian eatery, Gradini Restaurant at the Pottinger with an E Bar, does regional faire with native style in a heavy British accent. Both spaces are small but, like the rest of the hotel, charmingly designed and have become popular with locals in the evenings. Nestled on the hotel’s third floor, The Envoy bar has an East meets West feel with an offbeat artwork has a cocktail menu influenced by the city’s colonial past, with many of the drinks using tea as a main ingredient.
Relax There is no in-house spa or fitness centre, but The Pottinger is located close to the city’s best offerings which are only a short walk or escalator ride away.
Experience The Pottinger is situated close to Hong Kong’s most famous and spectacular sights. Take the century-old Peak Tram up the mountain which offers a stunning panorama of Victoria Harbour and the city below. Popular attractions include the Peak Tower and Madame Tussaud. Nearby is the Hong Kong Park with a 3.5-kilometre Peak Circle Walk. To the west is Man Mo Temple, a splendid example of Chinese cultural heritage in Hong Kong.
Location Situated on the historic stone slab street, The Pottinger is located in the heart of the central business district and just a short stroll to shops and restaurants.
Getting there 12-hour international flight to Hong Kong International Airport.
