Shangri-la Hotel, Guilin, surrounded by dramatic Decai Mountains, is a perfect base from which to explore the Li River that flows through Karst mountains, showcasing nature’s best views. The hotel itself, overlooks the beautiful Li River and many of the guest rooms and suites. Guilin is a small city and like any other city, filled with traffic. But, the beauty of Guilin lies in its countryside, to which Shangri-La proves to be an excellent place to stay.
Although Guilin is of limited tourist interest, it is a perfect base to start and end your tour. The Li River is where all the tourists go to take a four-hour cruise downriver to view the beautiful landscape of Karst Limestone Mountains. The Shangri-La hotel, located not far from Guilin is a perfect choice to explore the city and the countryside.
The guestrooms are spacious whilst Executive River View Rooms feature outdoor viewing terraces to observe breath-taking sunsets, and the Horizon Club offers enhanced amenities. The king bed is extremely comfortable, but I'm not sure any of this mattered as much as that spectacular view from the window. It is the large big windows from which you can have grand sweeping view of the Karst Mountains and the Li River flowing silently through it. It’s magical!

Location The Shangri-la Hotel, Guilin, is located on the outskirts of Guilin town, overlooking the Li River. It is the perfect base from which to explore the Li River that flows through Karst mountains, showcasing nature’s best views. Guilin is situated in the north-eastern corner of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
Getting There Guilin is a major hub for transport links with an International airport and two train stations. It is linked with major destinations in China by air. It is located 30 Kms west of the city and takes approximately 35-minutes from the airport to Shangri-La Guilin. Taxis and private cars with drivers are available from the airport for Guilin and Yangshuo.
When to go The best time to travel in Guilin is from April-May and Sep to December. During Spring, the mountains are full of colour, summers has pine and bamboo to view. Autumn has colourful leaves and chrysanthemum flowers, while winter sometimes has snow on its peaks. June to September is hot and humid with possible heavy rains.
