WEATHER IN Brunei

The best time to visit Brunei is during the dry season from December to February when rainfall is minimal, humidity is lower, and you can enjoy outdoor activities and cultural events comfortably.

  • Brunei experiences a tropical equatorial climate characterized by high temperatures, humidity, and abundant rainfall throughout the year. However, variations in weather can be observed across different regions of the country.
  • In the coastal regions, including the capital Bandar Seri Begawan, temperatures tend to be relatively consistent, with average highs ranging from 30°C to 32°C year-round. Humidity levels can be quite high, especially during the wet season from November to March, when heavy rainfall is common. These showers are often intense but brief, followed by sunny intervals. The wet season brings relief from the heat but can also result in occasional flooding, particularly in low-lying areas.
  • Inland areas, such as the hilly terrain of the Temburong District, may experience slightly cooler temperatures due to higher elevations. Rainfall remains abundant, contributing to the lush rainforests that characterize these regions. However, compared to the coast, the inland areas may receive slightly less rainfall and experience fewer instances of flooding.
  • The eastern regions, including Tutong and Belait districts, typically receive more rainfall than the western regions due to their proximity to prevailing winds and maritime influences. The weather patterns here closely mirror those of the coastal areas, with high humidity and frequent but short-lived rain showers.
  • Overall, while Brunei's weather is generally hot and humid throughout the year, variations in temperature and rainfall occur across different regions, influenced by factors such as elevation, proximity to the coast, and prevailing winds.
