Set off in the morning to Mtskheta, a short drive north from central Tbilisi, located at the confluence of two rivers. This small provincial capital, once the ancient heart of Georgia, played a significant role in the country's economic and political history. Recognized for its historical importance and home to several cultural monuments, Mtskheta has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As the cradle of Christianity in Georgia, it remains a vital religious centre. After exploring Mtskheta, journey towards the Great Caucasus Mountains via the renowned Georgian Military Highway. Then, journey to Kutaisi, one of the world's oldest cities. Spend time wandering the Old Town and exploring its heritage sites. Visit the Gelati Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, an important historical and educational centre, and the burial site of David the Builder, Georgia's celebrated monarch. Enjoy a tranquil evening in Kutaisi.

On your journey, visit the tranquil village of Gordi and explore Okatse Canyon, known for its breathtaking sky-high trail that winds through lush forests and spans the canyon. Opt to view the nearby waterfall before continuing your journey. Make a brief stop at the impressive Enguri hydroelectric power plant, an architectural marvel, before arriving in Mestia, the main town in Upper Svaneti.
